    minimum wage job.. and you want ketchup when there's a line up. just go away and eat your lame ass sandwich.


    ORANGE COUNTY, FL (WFTV/CNN) - A Subway employee was fired after a confrontation with a customer over putting ketchup on his sandwich order.

    Customer Luis Martinez entered a Subway and placed his order, asking for ketchup to be added. The employee, Lawrence Ordone, did not do so, stating there was none.

    Martinez did not want the sandwich without the condiment and the next customer in line offered to pay for the sandwich as it was made.

    A confrontation began - Ordone states Martinez began to mouth off at him, a claim Martinez disputes. Both men agree that Ordone lost his cool.

    "He shoved a chair to the side, knocked it down to come at me and I said, 'this is going to be serious,'" said Martinez.

    Martinez said he feared for his life, claiming Ordone threatened to kill him in front of his wife. Ordone admits he blocked Martinez from leaving the store.

    Martinez called 911 and by the time officers arrived, Ordone had left the store. Ordone has since been fired from his job.

    The employee is wrong. If a person wants ketchup and you don't have any, tell the guy that he can have a refund. That's all. He should be fired, he left his job because he lost his cool. If a customer gets mad over stupid shit you have to learn not to take shit personally.

    typical customer if you ask me. i'll never understand how some of these customers act like they own the store where they can treat the person that works there and basically gives them the product like shit. this is one of the reasons why i quit working at fast food. bad enough you lose your dignity working there because that's what the management beats into your head. "the customer is always right, kiss the customers asses, always put a smile on your face even though you're being degraded" and you're getting paid shit too. after awhile, it gets to you where you end up being depressed or losing your temper like what this guy did.

    i bet you that dude got tired of dealing with that bullshit. the customer would have reported him to that little hotline they have set up about the customer service and he would have got that guy in trouble over something that had nothing to do with him. the customer probably was ready to give him an attitude over there being no ketchup so he gave him his attitude right back to him.

    I'm surprised no one posted the picture of the lady who ran over another lady in a Wal*Mart parking lot recently because she was standing in a parking spot and holding it for her friend who was pulling in next to her.

    No, these sorts of events don't define or characterize our every-single-day-we're-all-killing-each-other American society. These cases make the news because they're eyecatching and sensational. But I do think what underlines a lot of it is there is definitely an undercurrent among Americans of feeling hassled and barely able to stand each other. I can't relate to killing someone waiting for a Wal*Mart sale to open or beating someone up for getting my sandwich wrong. But I can understand the atmosphere of mutual frustration Americans all seem to have with each other in our culture. I can't say where it comes from but I can feel that it's there.

    It feels like we're never hard to push into thinking in our head "****ing bitch/asshole!" over pretty inane things, in the big picture.

    The sandwich maker shouldn't have threatened the customer with violence.

    As somebody who works on the line at Chipotle, I can assure that the customer was most likely a douche bad and deserved every bit of disrespect as he got. Customers are ridiculous with their orders and if they want want what offered, they shouldn't have come. The stupid political correstness that is sweeping the USA and "The Customer is Always Right" is a complete shame. I believe that you shouldn't have to remain stoic in situations where people are being disrespectful where they end up getting free stuff because they're rude. Is that the kind of behavior we want to promote?

    I've worked several customer service jobs in my life.
    They way you should handle a FUCKING TROLL OF A CUSTOMER is try to be polite, if the customer is complaining about something that cannot be fixed offer him a refund, if he continues his rude behavior ask someone else to deal with the customer, and lastly inform the manager of the situation, make sure you tell him first because the manager has to make himself appear to care about the FUCKING TROLL OF A CUSTOMER.

    I've been in some bad situations in some of my jobs and i have to say, if a customer decides to make your day as difficult as possible, their is a chance you can get fired regardless of how you handled the situation. Two jobs ago, i did all i could to keep the customer happy, i handled the situation as best as i could till the manager steeped in and sent me home. He told me to come back 2 days latter and i came back ready to work, he told me he had to let me go. I was great at doing my job and he fired me.

    Since then any time a customer gets in my face like that i just let the manager handle it and if they insist to be in face i get just as loud and bitchy as they get. Getting payed minimum wage and dealing with stupid ass people like that is just not worth it.

    Who does all this firing? I've had jobs on the food counter, and we were expected to be polite. We were not expected to make an asshole feel like they were winning.

    Several people have raised it but yeah... you can get almost any American to bitch about how "service has gone downhill" and people still have this 1950's internal concept of how customer service should be. But anyone who's worked for $5 an hour is going to have a hard time caring that someone buying fast food expects treatment as if they had entered a pricy 5 star restaurant.

    I don't care what the circumstances were. If I'm a patron of your establishment, I have a right to get what I want. The customer is always right! If there was an issue, it should be dealt with delicately and with respect. I have a feeling that Martinez got a little snarky while dealing with the sandwich maker, but that in no way warrants a physical, or even verbal attack.

    Of course that's in Florida. The employee was certainly in the wrong. The customer is always right. However, if there was nothing the employee could do, he needed to turn the situation to his higher authority to avoid an issue like this. That's how I handle issues like this at my place in the retail employment field.

    Anyone with eyes can see that they do not carry ketchup.

    Only an idiot would get angry at employee for not giving him something the store did not have.

    I hate customers like this. It's absolutely a flawed way of thinking. What if you had to dead with a ridiculous customer at your work (whatever you do) who had absurd requests and wouldn't drop it and was being rude? Would you just give him what he wants and move on with your day?? People like you who think the whole world needs to get on their knees and praise their every step sicken me. The customer is hardly right, they're just arrogant assholes. If you go out, expect what you get, don't complain. If you don't like what you get, avoid going there again.     Yup. Another way I'd put it would be, if you want customer service geared around waiting on you hand and foot and treating you as always right (even when you aren't)... pay for it. You're not paying for it when you go to places where people are making minimum wage to prepare you cheap food.

    There's no amount of money that you can pay that allows you to treat people with disrespect. I don't care if you're at a 5-star restaurant and there is something wrong with your 40 appetizer, ask nicely, and if nothing can be done, continue to be nice while seeking answers. If things don't go your way, don't throw a tantrum like a 3 year old kid who didn't get his tickle me Elmo doll at the store.

    If you wouldn't want a stranger treating you like that, or those who you love, DON'T DO IT TO OTHER PEOPLE.

    *This message isn't entirely directed at you Buzzer. This is my ranting because I have to deal with morons on a daily basis.. Luckily, I'm probably the best burrito maker in the world, so people tend to love me more than other people who I work with (People flatter me with compliments all the time; it feels good).
