It seems that some SPECIFIC amount of extreme right-wing diatribe is a requirement for this website (or, for that matter, just about ANY website - Facebook is probably the best proof of this).

It seems that just as soon as b... became somewhat more scarce in here (not absent, but not here as often), one of these guys REALLY stepped up on the most extreme Republican talking points.

Furthermore, JayQueer isn't around as much, either, and he has mellowed from that somewhat.

The other one of these two (mentioned by rareboy) also ramped it up, but only by a gradient or two. I'll leave it to other readers to interpret who-is-who, among these two.

HINT: the one who I see having really ramped the Republican talking points up, recently made the incredible comment that the Republican Party is very accepting of gay people, this month.

I actually see Sausy as a GENUINE conservative who is not beholden to the latest in-vogue radical talking points, and my respect for that knows no bounds. Common-sense conservatives are almost dinosaurs in today's high-stakes, high-visibility political landscape.

You sure make a guy feel good. I was brought up to think for myself and not follow blindly.

If you feel comfortable going along with the flow and want to be a part of the 85% that is fine with me.

If you feel uncomfortable hearing different views then I feel sorry for you.

The Television stations that Murdoch owns part of in Saudi Arabia (and Kuwait) have done essentially the same thing and worse than the Arabic al Jazeera.

The FOX nation can't have it both ways. They can't have O'Reilly 'exposing' al Jazeera and at the same time have owners like Murdoch and Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal who are essentially doing the same thing or worse with their Saudi 'News' network stories.

Being a principal shareholder confers editorial responsibility.

What it really shows though, is that soulless evil men like Murdoch don't care what the message is...as long as it sells. For the US, Murdoch knows that old white guy rage is his demographic....and in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait...it is the Wahabist jew hating tent dwellers.

Um no, it's the fact that it is NOT a news outlet but an opinion station, and it is so predictable that watching it is pointless 9 out of 10 times. It has pre-programmed content and while it might work on impressionable young men like you, it has nowhere near the substance that it needs to actually make any thinking user here doubt his beliefs, liberal or otherwise.

It is not okay for a journalist to kill a 4 year old kid anywhere.

But journalists aren't the story. They cover the story.

It is no different than all the American journalists who have witnessed first hand the 'collateral damage' caused by bombing all over Iraq...including the deaths of thousands of innocent children...but all they can do is report. They certianly weren't on air complaining or lamenting the deaths of all the innocents when they filed their stories.

What fear or doubt? I've watched Fox and I found myself laughing. It's outright false. They are out of touch with reality. And that Karl Rove meltdown will always be hilarious. I know garbage when I see it and Fox qualifies as garbage.

What both you and Chance harping on this gives away, Jack, is that both of you unconsciously equate and expect a news organization to be endorsing a specific political or moral agenda.

That is not what the news is supposed to be doing. It's supposed to be reporting. Your overreliance on biased right wing sources and things like Fox have won you over to the assumption that news isn't about facts, it's about a particular angle you wish to see pushed in the public discourse. And that's what you're afraid of Al Jazeera for.

Christiane Amanpour is a world-renowned journalist. She's had multiple meetings for interviews with Ahmadinejad. Does that mean she personally endorses anti-Israeli viewpoints? Of course not. She's a journalist.

Does anyone know when Al Jazeera will be debuting their broadcasts here in America? Will they use relatively unknown American journalists or try to hire well known journalists here in America? Just curious if anyone had any insight on this matter.

There is no comparison between Iraq and Al Jazeera defending a child murderor. First of all we actually try hard not to have civilian casualities and to kill innocent people. As we see on this news station they love shedding Jewish blood.

Again if Fox even said half of the things they said you would be up their ass calling for them to be taken off the air. Also your moral equivalencies fail. Just because Fox is bad does not change the fact that Al Jazeera is bad as well.

Maria, I'd respond but I know as long as there's even an oblique, indirect connection between anything and any Muslims-- you feel that it's evil and perpetrating an evil agenda. And I'm not here to dissuade you of that. But this is a private news market now, and there's no political or legal or economic reason to shut them out. That'd be my bottom line on it. If they get on the air perpetrating some kind of pro-Muslim anti-American sentiment they'll be treated just like Fox News except with the difference that nearly 0% rather than 50% of the country will be taking it seriously or tuning into it.
