We are SOOOooo sorry that he put the country first. It's not like it's his full time job to run the country or anything. When he finally got word that McConnell is finally negotiating he hauled ass back to DC to expedite the process. It's a vacation that's probably been tentatively on the books since last year or 2 years ago. What's the big deal if he gets a vacation to his home state? It's not like he's disconnected. He has a massive staff wherever he goes that allows him to govern on the move. Does it all the time for official trips, it's no different if it's a personal one. He could've probably signed the bill there, but shame on him for caring too much by returning to Washington.

The following issues are now of massive, critical concern under a Democratic President:

1. The deficit
2. The lack of total surrender if that's what's required to 'compromise' with the political opposition
3. Embassy attacks
4. Acquisition of news or media outlets by biased purchasers
5. Presidential vacations
6. The state of the economy and unemployment and social services to those affected

All of these, of course, are critical concerns only now. They weren't at all during the 8 years of Bush beforehand.

Those who continue to disparage a President having ANY kind of vacation, ever, should work at a job that requires THEM to work fifty-two full times a year with absolutely no vacation, and see how THEY like it. Just like us, a President is still a human being. And just like us, a President NEEDS to be able to "reboot" every so often.

Even when on vacation, a President CANNOT ENTIRELY "reboot" - NEVER - they are *ALWAYS* on call, 24/7/365. Most of us, when we take a vacation, we can pretty much know that we ARE where we're going, and we're gonna be able to stay there as planned, without any major interruptions or changes (most likely).

Our vacation can be cut short because of family emergencies and such, but we aren't going to need to cut it short because there was a massive earthquake on the other side of the world, or another school gets shot up, or North Korea just detonated a nuke on land in Siberia, etc.
