Should I get an extra job even when I think I don't really need one?

I am currently employed and have been sent to Uni to further my studies. With pay every month and all.

I am thinking of taking up a part time job to earn extra cash. I save a big chunk of my salary (I'm Asian) so I don't mind the extra moolah to spend on shit I don't need.

I am just worried it will affect my results. I have done well in the last sem (I'm Asian) and I don't want that to be affected because I got greedy.

Oh, it might affect my social life when it starts existing.

What would you do? Have you been in a similar situation? Do you hate Lilbit?

If you can afford to I would actually devote more time to personal growth and exploration. Spending time not working should ironically improve your ability to work when the time comes. If you work and study constantly you'll only burn yourself out like I've done. It will take you a huge amount of time to recover because exhaustion tends to compound. If you are getting paid to further your studies and can live a little on the side, live a little.

I agree with this as well. School is more important. I had a few friends who take up few jobs, but then it affected their studies and theu have to retake/ resit a subject. I am doing some side jobs for now but I am not putting too much hope on it. Just doing it so I can buy some things I like.

Actually, I want to apologize first. I realized I am pretty conceited. Although the tone of the thread was to get advice and have a bit of fun, I see that it was a little bit shitty. I should be happy that I am financially alright. A lot of people have difficulty getting jobs nowadays and I should be thankful for my current situation.

It's just that I live in the culture where if you can make more money, make it. I do feel the pressure from the other folks who are doing the same thing.

I went to speak to the boss about it after I have created this thread. I have set aside every Sat and Wednesday . I can always use the extra cash. Studying would mean eating into some favorite pastimes. Don't worry, sex and dating won't be affected.

Actually, I teach full-time and bartend part-time ... if the bar-owner had his way, I'd be full-time, but my schedule just doesn't allow for it. Lol ... I'm growing lazy in my old age. I don't mind filling in every now and again, but I shy away from anything permanent.

Go for internships/jobs with learning experience for your resume if you are going to take on more work. Yes, your grades are likely to suffer speaking just from my experience.
