Stuff you do with your best friend

It occurred to me to wonder where the line is that you don't cross with very close friends.

I have two best friends, both gay, with whom I can talk about most things.
One is a little less open than the other.


The most open one I actually had sex with about 12 years ago. Just the once.
Since then we have done quite a few things which you can only do with your very closest of friends.
For instance, today I shaved him. He was naked and on his hands and knees while I shaved his asshole and then moved on to his pubis.
In the past I have given him a rectal exam when he feared he had medical problems and I have also examined his penis when he was worried he had an STI

My other friend I would not contemplate even seeing him naked let alone examine him. Although we did used to be in a gay sauna (bathhouse) at the same time but carefully avoided each other.

The boundary line varies from friend to friend. The most dangerous one is becoming romantically involved with a friend if you want to keep the friendship afterwards, but some people do this or do friends with benefits and it works out 100% fine. Totally varies by the dynamics between the two given people.

Yes, boundaries vary drastically depending on individuals. But I learned to avoid any sexual or romantic situations with friends because most of the time, friendships become weak or are completely lost. I have a straight friend who asked me to look at his penis couple times for STIs. He felt I was more knowledgeable and mature about these issues. My female friend has a gay roommate who asks her to shave his back and asshole. I laugh that a guy would not be embarrassed to ask a girl to do that, but people have different ideas of what's embarrassing for them and not. I think it's nice to have a best friend that you can trust to help with very awkward and embarrassing issues.

It's all good, guys. I'm not desperate for friends or relationships. I do have friends but we never see one another due to conflicting work schedules. The ones that I've lost touch with I've made my peace with it. It's not the biggest deal. Like I said, I generally don't like most people (not to say I was ever rude to them) so not having to hear "all about them" doesn't bother me. Some were online friends who became "bored" with me, so again, no big deal. It sucks but I'm not crying.

I"m no longer friends with him, long story, but he's holding a grudge which I think he shouldn't and we were both at fault as to what went wrong.

We used to get together ever two weeks and have dinner at one of our homes and watch a movie. Sometimes we would take his dog out for a ride and take him for ice cream. I love his dogs, he got another one this past year.

He has a boyfriend so he doesn't give a shit about friends, but he will never find a friend as good as I was to him. He's very quiet and says he doesn't like small talk, I'm a little quiet too so I have to start most conversations or tell him what's happening in my life. He will go to Gay Days at Disney and come back with like a 30 second story so I have to ask him questions.

I'm trying to make new friends but in my late 40's it's hard and I am kind of in a new circle, but we don't really get together that often. I find us all kind of boring, like we don't click. There are two guys in the group that are about 7 years older than me that I would date, one is very conservative and slow talking, the other is nice and sweet but I don't get the vibe that either are interested in me. The one that kind of likes me the most is okay, but he's really nosy and I'm very private and don't like telling people my business, I don't find him attractive at all and I don't think I could date someone that I don't find attractive.

I recently found and old friend on Facebook and he returned my messages a few weeks late so I think he's just being polite more than interested in anything more than an email exchange.

I lost my best friends a couple years ago. We liked running in the park or just taking simple walks around the neighborhood. Or just hang out around my house; I never tired of them being there. Damn I miss those dogs.

I have a few really close friends.

One is an ex and she's the only person I feel comfortable really opening up to about some of the more difficult aspects of my life. But, because she's a recent ex, there are many things (like dating) that we don't talk about. When we see each other it's usually a two-day visit. We go out to eat/drink, watch movies, visit family, and catch up.

I have two close friends who I talk to about most things. They both live far away so we only see each other a few times a year. When we do get together, we usually meet for coffee and talk. One lives in my home town and we tend to play tourist when I'm there, walking around and looking in all the stores.

My closest friend here lives with his gf and brother, who are also good friends. We usually watch movies, eat, and play video games. I don't usually talk to them about really personal things, but I know that I can if I need to. I feel extremely relaxed with them and can spend several hours at their place just hanging out and playing with the cat.

Best friends come and eventually go. My best friend and I have drifted apart over the last 20 years. Life has really gotten in the way for both of us and it just sort of happened.

Anyway, back in the late 80's before he married, we were like brothers. We did sports together, worked on our cars, went out to eat, to clubs, malls, etc, etc. We'd even think nothing of chilling naked in the hot tub (no... neither one of us got hard... stop it!) or rubbing each others backs when we were sore and tired. We just got along and were comfortable around each other. We laughed and cried together, although I did more of the crying on his shoulder (literally) because I went through some personal crap then too. He was an awesome and very supportive friend. At that time, he was always there for me when I really needed him, even neglecting his girlfriend for me, and I'll be forever grateful for that. He came into my life at a time when I NEEDED someone like him, and I guess sort of left when I no longer did.

I truly to this day consider him as my brother, he is always welcome here. And no.... certain lines were never crossed. To be honest, had he been gay I would have been open to more, but I'm glad things are the way they are. It was good, and less "complicated".

Nowadays I have a few close friends, but I no longer consider anyone my "BEST" friend.

It's not really about sexuality for me. Although I don't have a best friend I do have friends, and it's just the silly things only gay guys would understand (like going crazy about Girls Aloud reunion tour) that makes me thrive for a gay best friend. Plus, we'd be all fabulousness out there lol.

I've known my straight best friend since we were 5 years old, so we obviously have much more of a history together. He's like a brother to me.

However, I'm a lot closer with my gay best friend. We do everything from sharing things with each other and talking about our problems to cuddles on the sofa when one of us is down and full sex (obviously not when either of us is in a relationship).

Not a whole lot. I really only have one friend. He's an absolutely awesome , but he's incredibly busy, so we rarely see each other except on theatre business. I try and help out as much with the company so I can hang out with him.

One of my main friends I play video games with every now and then. That is pretty much about it, unless he is interested in doing something else and you're interested in doing that with him.

My other main friend movies, games and all that. Since I moved out from him we haven't really hung out all that much, though. Few occasions he asked me to go to the movies and then on the date of I didn't hear from him.
