I tend to take it a step beyond bj's instructions & simply delete any html relating to images or attachments. That way I'm only quoting text. I very rarely might quote a thumbnail if the original poster has attached the maximum (5?) & I want to make a point about a specific pic. I did that in the One Direction thread during the debate regarding Liam's current & former hairstyles.

Quoting does have its merits. The double arrow View Post icon is handy to open an original post in a new tab. Much more convenient than sifting through posts trying to find a particular one, especially if it's on a previous page.

No quoting of images on page 22 so far! Maybe our rule reminders have paid some dividends. It should last about a day.

DanFan, Willie Boy, Ilovejsumpter you all have valid points. There is just no such thing, however, as a perfect world. I thought it might be worth posting the how to, because it seemed that most of the reposting was being done by newbies. On the old version of JUB I made tutorial that covered how all the little buttons work in the thread, but it was obsolete as soon as they posted the new site. I put a lot of effort into that tutorial and it was only good for about a month, and it never got posted by the mods. The best tool that was easily available, in my humble opinion, was the preview post button. That is now found only if you use the Go Advanced button for your posting.

In a way I think it is kind of dumb that the mods don't promote tools to limit the problems that they made rules about. I tend to use the reply with quote so people can figure out who the quote is intended for. So many times I will see responses that say things like, gee that is great, or thanks, and you have no idea who or what they are talking about. Maybe they could have a button on the thread to ask a mod a question. But of course..... That probably wouldn't do any good either. Not really pissed, just saying.......

Technically there is one. You could always use the report post to ask the mods about something related to that post. And I guess if you wanted to take the time you could report every post of quoted images. But then when would you have time to make your great fakes. I'm finding the best thing you can do is just let it go. Do your best and if something is serious enough report it, otherwise pretend it isn't there. I used to put the worst offenders on my ignore list just so I didn't have to see it, but that is part of why I had over 200 idiots on ignore. But hey, that did clean up the threads. Maybe its time to rethink clearing it.
