It passed the Senate late last week

The simple stupid is our govt. can continue to monitor overseas calls and emails WITHOUT OBTAINING A COURT ORDER and only applies to foreigners NOT americans

I'm cool with it - I imagine the President's base is not but taxing the 2% is taking priority right now

Like I have said repeatedly... the democratic party looks a helluva lot more like the republican party I grew up with and the republicans are the ones in the wilderness trying to spin conspiracy theories out of thin air instead of legislate this nation.

This one's a no-brainer. The only thing I think is wrong with it is I don't think there's a requirement for informing foreign governments if anything incriminating shows up. I presume that would be done with allies, especially since in many of them the police have a lot more latitude for dealing with these people, while non-allies would be a case by case decision.

As I said in another post, you would be surprised how few rights a non-American citizen has in the US. The first amendment is only for American citizens.

Sounds lovely until you realise that Canada, Australia, UK, all do the same thing, and our governments all share what they have learnt about each other's citizens. So while your bureacrats may be limited to spying on foreigners, there is nothing to prevent domestic surveillance being contracted out to each other as allies.

Chance, Chance, Chance --- don't you know it's all good. Obama continues to expand the the federal government's intrusion into people's personal lives -- it's a good thing -- Obama needs to increase his knowledge of the lower class.

When will you learn that Obama only does good things. He's the perfect person -- one who governs in fairness, righteousness, and only has hate toward gun toting and Bible clinching conservatives .... and many little babies who are not yet born.

The Supreme Court has said that no legal action can be taken against a non-citizen for any activities that would be protected by the First Amendment for a citizen .
