Does the "Report Post" thingee work?
It seems lately -- which is only when I thought it necessary to use -- that the "Report Post" thingee is an exercise if futility.
Where does it go?
Does it ring a bell (like in a fire station)?
Who reads it?
Is it ever acted on, even when it calls attention to a flagrant violation of the CoC?
Jubbers, your experience.

Re: Does the "Report Post" thingee work?
It starts a thread in the moderator's forum. Or, if someone has already reported the post, appends a post to the open thread.
Moderators will see new threads. They'll decide what, if anything, needs to be done.
Three possibilities exist:
1) no one has yet to see the new post report
2) the post report has been seen, yet it was decided that no action is needed
3) potato

Give a man religion, and he'll starve praying for a fish.

Re: Does the "Report Post" thingee work?
I know several JUBBERS that did a Report Post on SLIH's last thread as he was flaming out and spewing filth but nothing was done for a long time after when the thread was binned.
Similarly I called attention to a post containing personal contact info but nothing happened for hours.
Got me curious.

Re: Does the "Report Post" thingee work?
The mods are volunteers, and not here every single moment of the day. There will be times when no one is here, primarily because they're either at work (in real life), asleep, or out doing their things. One of the reasons there are mods and admin across the world, is to bridge the gap.
The first available person comes into Mod Towers and may see a huge stack of things to do, or nothing at all. Some are fairly easy, other requires sorting out personal disputes, infringements of the CoC, or fighting spam etc and a range of other stuff. When there are several mods on, they may all be preoccupied sorting something out in their own set of forums and it will seem like Report Post has not happened with the speed you thought it might be dealt with.
If you wanna see which mod has their light on, you can click this link : http://www.justusboys.com/forum/showgroups.php to see..

Thanks star-warrior. I had occasion to use it twice today and the response was fast and appropriate. Could've been the holidays recently.

Or you didn't pay your mod tax for the quarter. Bartering services is also available in lieu of cash... or so I've heard.
