I've often thought of simply "disappearing" myself. It's not like I've already not done that, at big gatherings, even small parties. I reach a certain point that I don't feel like I'm contributing anything to the situation, and quietly leave ...

Christmas began on December 25 and continues to January 5th. If the commercial world can begin it in August, then those of us who celebrate the actual holiday should be allowed to enjoy it. Hanukkah last for days, as do Ramadan and Christmas. It is not like Easter, or St. Patrick's Day, or St. Valentine's Day, or All Hallows Eve -- it is not a single day.
