How sad. I always thought he was a really good character actor and enjoyed his many roles.
Had a prolific career even though he didn't get his national break until he was well into his forties. Loved him as the sometimes cantankerous Father Hubley on "Everyone Loves Raymond". He was great in dramatic roles but had a music background and often was featured in comic roles where his talents equally shined. His portrayal of the nimble, sure footed though crooked governor of Texas in"The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" showcased his coming timing and musical talents, including his surprising dancing skills. I read in an obituary that before he hit it big as a go to character actor he and his wife ran a dance studio.
