I have insomnia and sometimes i'm up for 2-3 days without any sleep.
What is the longest you guys have stayed awake for, either through working commitments or insomnia ?

2 days at the most.
You poor thing.
Edit: I thought about it, actually once I stayed up for almost two days. I have horrible sleeping patterns as well.

24 hours. Maybe 26.
Americans need to keep their guns so they can protect themselves from gun violence just like Nancy Lanza did. And like Chris Kyle did. And like Gabby Giffords did. And like Tom Clements did.
48 hours
then crashed and slept for 12
2 days, I think. Maybe a bit more but under 3.
For me, after 24 hours, I gradually start to feel like I'm in a dream and it gets worse with every hour. And coffee and red bull don't help much. They just make my eyes feel really heavy and my body really jittery but I still feel sleepy.
It's impossible for me to stay awake for more than about 20 hours, as my brain starts switching off, forcing me to go lie down to avoid falling out of my computer chair. And after I go to bed, I'm sound asleep in less than 30 seconds.
"The surest way to make a monkey of a man is to quote him." ~ Robert Benchley
About 36hrs , due to work commitments .
Working in a fish processing plant driving forklift for 48 hours then so wired was hard to get to sleep
40 max. It was during my 2nd year of college I think (last year). Was rushing final that time. My body can't really handle sleepless nights anymore. This semester I only stay up 26 hours max. Slept like 14 hours the next day. Damn my body's getting old.
I'm not into coffee, myself. I just drink it occasionally. Same goes for eating chocolate or drinking hot chocolate. Sometimes they just taste so bad to me. I don't know, and they upset my stomach. But I think in small amounts I can enjoy certain flavors of each. I would not consider myself a big fan of either, let's put it that way.
What I do when I'm trying to use coffee as a stimulant is just eat the raw instant powder. It has a bit of an effect. Otherwise, I don't get much out of it. I'd have to be super duper desperate to do that though. I've only done it a few times in the past, mostly during exam periods.![]()
About 45 straight hours before finally crashing.

About 3 days I guess during college finals. It sucked...
44 hours is the longest that I can "document" in my mind, but there was some extreme hobby-stuff happening over Thanksgiving 1986 and I may have been up for as much as sixty hours. I was so distracted and so busy that I wasn't even THINKING about how long I was up.

30 hours. Then slept for the rest of the day.
I'm insomniac and when I'm stressed my insomnia kicks into high gear. I once went 5 days without any sleep. My boyfriend force-fed me my sleeping pills at that point.

I once stayed up all night, flew across the country changing planes twice, rented a car and drove an hour through the Appalachians, arriving just in time for a tornado. About 40 hours. Had expected to sleep on the plane, but couldn't. Very foolish.

30 hours or so. Didn't enjoy it.

the most is somewhere close to 24 hours BUT i've never been able to stay away like that maybe back in the day but eventually, sleep will creep up on me in some way shape or form and i'm out even if it's like an hour or two of sleep.

36hrs max i'd say. I don't like being awake for 24hrs let alone longer.

30 Hrs; do to procrastination on finishing up a term paper.
Probably 36 hours, had an all nighter watching horror movies when I was younger.
Theses days I need my sleep.
Three days. I started hallucinating. It sucked.
Yeah, I have sleeping pills, but I'm extremely conservative and prudent with them. I will not take more than three in any week, nor more than perhaps four in any entire month. (My remaining AMBIEN pills are probably at least three years old; is there a shelf life on them?)
I've always been aware of possible additcion/tolerance issues with them, so I use them only in a scheduling emergency, like if I'm on a horrible schedule and suddenly the next day I have to GET UP at what is currently my normal bedtime, or something. Without scheduling emergencies I will sometimes not use them at all for five or six months or longer.
I usually have at least two or three 30-or-more-hour days per year, when I'm trying to repair my schedule. The normal is a 33 or 34 hour day in those circumstances.
It is NEVER easy, but my schedule sometimes/eventually defaults to going to bed like 7 in the morning, which unquestionably is entirely toxic to getting much of any "business" done in the real world.

1 1/2 days; I could have went on for 2 whole days but I thought better. And I did recently for the final exam.

I remember it was a long weekend here, can't remember which it was though; maybe during Easter. Anyway... I got up on Friday morning for work, finished for the day, and went home to prepare myself for the big event, close to home, and partied through until Monday afternoon, when I finally stumbled home, very tired. Things got weird that weekend; think it's safe to say I fried most of my brain, during those 3 days.. Had a bloody brilliant time though!![]()

36 hours. Never want to do that again.
56 hours, i was really sick and i feared that if i went to sleep i would just get sicker. i decided to stay up all both nights back to back. worst i have ever been sick
How long has does the Andreus thread been going?
Nine to ten days, a couple times.
Four days. I have chronic insomnia, and my jerk-face doctor refused to refill my Ambien prescription. He waited until 6.00 PM on the Friday of Labor Day weekend to call the pharmacy and say that I had to see a specialist. I had an appointment scheduled for the following week, but he didn't care.
I was hallucinating badly by Tuesday morning.
61 hours. It was extremely painful. People say those with insomnia are productive but when your body tries to go to sleep and can't it feels like your body is just shutting down but your brain is still active.
Typically I can do 20 hours awake in a day but it isn't easy.
24 hours is all I can recall. It was after a 22 hour 1300 mile drive and I hit a traffic jam 360 mils from home, then when I got home I was too wound up to sleep so I was up an extra 2 hours.
I never had real bad insomnia, but in the summer months when school was out I would stay up all night and sleep during the day and that sucked.

actually like 36 hours or a little more.
One time I had to get up for work like 5:15 to be at work at 6 am and work for 12 hours. Then I decided to go out that night. I get home at 5am and get a message that I have to come in to work. So I had to go in on no sleep and work another 12 hour shift, driving. I was pissed and tired as hell.
Never cease to find it strange
How at midnight things seem hopeless
But by dawn they've changed
I want to say at least 36 hours. It was in my mid teens, and I was at a party (a church function). I had woken up at 5 AM the morning before to get ready and go to school. I get home, get things ready to head over there by 4 PM. We had a wild night of events, which ended in bowling until 2 AM. We went back and watched movies until 8 AM (by this point, I was so wired on Mountain Dew, I was literally shaking). We went and had breakfast by 10 AM, then went to a pool party. By the time the pool party was over, I went home, ate dinner and went to my room. It was about 5 or 6 PM, and I didn't wake up until about 9 AM the next morning.
I think the most has been 48hr. Working for a small company, and had deadlines to meet. I don't remember how much I slept after that.
There were times in college, especially before finals, or pulling "all nighters", for "party" or study, which were a really bad idea!
I remember driving through the West Virginia Smokeys, in a Blizzard, all through the night, in my Gremlin, and not being able to sleep, once we reached our destination, in the morning, because I felt like I was still moving.
I can no longer do what I used to! My older body just won't allow it! Sleep is no longer an "option". It's an absolute Necessity!![]()

This is my typical daily amount of sleep during weekdays. That said, I'm zombified most weekday mornings.

48 hours is the longest I went without sleep. it was awful, my brain turned into a big pile of cabbage

I went about 36 hours. That was enough for me to start seeing things and freaking out.
I couldn't get my mind off you all day.
