The Seven States (Or More) That Could See Marriage Equality In 2013
BuzzFeed has a report on there being a goal to get same-sex marriage in more states, and that 2013 could see this manifest. I'd like to suggest pursuit in the "blue firewall" of states which haven't voted for Republican presidential candidates since the 1980s. (Minnesota just voted Democratic for the tenth straight presidential election since 1976. I particularly suggest going after the state of New York—the No. 3 most-populous state in the nation—which was carried by President Barack Obama in both 2008 and 2012 with more than 60 percent of their statewide vote. Similar results in both elections to Maryland.) So, it is looking very encouraging after the Md., Maine, and Washington electorates voted on 11.06.2012 in support of same-sex marriage. (And that Minn. voters said no to the attempt to ban it.)

The Supreme Court is hearing cases about California's Proposition 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act this spring. Here are the states LGBT advocates want to move to the “marriage equality” column by June, when the court's big decisions traditionally are released.

Scratch that. My thinking was whacked. Distracted, actually. (Sorry.)

.
Illinois might be next. Governor favors marriage equality, as do a significant number of rabbis and clergy.
An idea whose time has come!
Don't cast aspersions on my asperagus.
