UPS driver caught stealing package delivered by FedEx

He must have taken a "dumb" pill that morning instead of a vitamin, and thus forgot to check for a video camera before succumbing to his larcenous urges. Now he's lost his high-paying job, has been branded a thief, and arrested for theft. The only lucky break he got was a misdemeanor charge instead of a felony, since $1,500 is the value necessary for a theft to constitute a felony in Texas.

    This was all over Reddit

The census was as follows: Tons of people at UPS steal, especially Apple products because after you work with packaging you just know which is which.

Of course plenty claimed that these are isolated incidents and UPS doesn't fuck around. At the end of the day this whole system of leaving $400 or $800 packages on a door step is getting messy.

    Throw up those cameras ya'll

well one instance - I think Pinkerton's - NOT highly paid , a bit over minimum wage , and getting paid so little and picking up a few million in loose bills from the bank must be very tempting .

That implies that base motives are every man's demon, which isn't true.

Does every nurse fight temptation to fondle attractive patients when they are sedated?

Is every teacher a looming child-beater, just waiting to abuse the position of authority.

In my five decades of life, I have not found most people subject to the temptation to steal as adults (once the lesson was learned in upbringing.)

Most people are honest. Being poor and paid low wages doesn't make one any more likely to thieve that the wealthier classes. The temptation comes from a mixture of greed and the disrespect of others. Being poor is a poor rationalization for theft.

Fedex and UPS are both familiar with the packages they handle daily. I once brought a plain box into a Fedex store and the guy immediately recognized it "Another PS3 being sent for repair I see." I thought WTF?

I just don't get why people do the damnedest things for Apple products. It seems that some are even willing to sell their soul.
