    Arrow (CW)

So, not sure how many people actually watch this show for the content. lol

But I am liking the fact they're pulling a lot of actors from other popular genre shows.

John Barrowman (DW/Torchwood) is already in the cast. Colton Haynes (Teen Wolf) is joining the cast. Manu Bennet (Spartacus) will be Deathstroke. Seth Gable (Fringe) will play Count Vertigo. James Callis (Battlestar Galactica) will play a jewel thief called The Dodger. David Anders (Once Upon A Time) will also play an upcoming bad guy. Should be good.

They want that nerdy fanbase for real.

Ive been meaning to catch this. Anyone of color on here ? There is just way too much stuff on TV right now.

I finally tried CW's Hart of Dixie. Not half bad actually. Ive been skipping past it on Netflix for months.

I thought for sure that Arrow, Hart of Dixie and Beauty and the Beast were going to end within the first couple of episodes, but people really seem to like them.

Yeah, there are quite a few PoC on the show.

The only ones who are currently central character's are David Ramsey who plays John Diggle, Oliver Queen's really bossy sidekick. And Colin Salmon, who plays Walter Steele-- Oliver Queen's step father. I find both very handsome and John Diggle is my favorite character on the show. lol

The rest are in minor recurring roles, like China White, Diggle's ex-sister in law who works in the diner, Laurel's best friend at work, Detective Lance's partner, the guy who mentored/taught Oliver on the island. etc

^ Yeah. When I found out I squeed for a few seconds. Ngl. lol

Manu Bennet is so fucking hot. I just can't.

"I auditioned with Manu," the actor explained. "We shot a scene he had originally shot with [original Spartacus star] Andy Whitfield in season one."

He continued: "It's going to be intense the stuff that we do [in Arrow]... we do mix it up, but he's meeting me on the island and I'm far less capable. So mixing it up might be a nice way to put it. More like beating down."

Is this worth watching? I'd been wanting to watch it, but had no time. But now I'm on winter break, so I'll have some time to catch up. Thankfully, it's only on its..10th episode, give or take. I think...?

Came across these on tumblr, so cute:

This isn't getting in the way of my Oliver/Diggle OTP, tho, thank you very much.

I mean it has an 8.4/10 rating on IMDb with nearly 30,000 votes so it does seem to have general appeal so far. And there is a lot of buzz surrounding it. It has a solid fanbase.

Honestly, the dialogue and acting are pretty weak at times but it has really grown on me. It has a lot of potential. But if you watch any other CW shows like The Vampire Diaries or Supernatural, Smallville, etc, you will see a lot of similarities in the overall tone and aesthetic. But it seems to be going for a Dark Knight vibe so there are comparisons to it-- it's trying to take a more 'realistic' approach to the superhero thing.

So, I'd say give it a try. If you can get passed the first few episodes, it really starts to pick up.

Something just tells me that Stephen Amell ISN'T straight as an arrow...he's given off a vibe before, certainly seems at least very comfortable enough in his sexuality he can be pretty playful. Was asked about his sexuality and definitely didn't close the door to the bi/gay possibilities. As a new leading man though, doubt we'll get anything more out of him for awhile.

I've watched some episodes of 'Arrow' (& 'Beauty And The Beast' too) .. don't always remember to watch it LOL

I remember there was a 'Green Arrow' that'd occasionally be in in 'Smallville' (it seems they used a different (and hotter) guy than the current show if I remember right)
I wonder how many of the comic heroes CW will do shows for?

The guy from Smallville just had blinde hair and a fit body. His face on the other hand was just average.

This guy (Arrow) has the whole package.

The photo with the Santa hat is cracking me up.

He seems much more charismatic and interesting off the show. lol

He needs to do less cringe-inducing "heartfelt monologues" and more crazy workout scenes.

Hm, I don't find Justin Hartley attractive but I can see why others would.

Stephen Amell is way better looking, imo.

Last I heard, CW is developing a Wonder Woman series and a Robin Hood series but with a female Robin Hood. The latter isn't comic book based but still.

I love the show. I think it's great. This Oliver is definitely a little grittier than Justin Hartley's Oliver. Sometimes it gets a little too soap opera for my tastes, but they quickly reel it back with some great fight scenes. There have also been a few guest appearances from other DC characters, and that has been exciting.

    Can't wait for more!

PS: Both Amell boys are hot. I wonder if the other will ever get a guest spot on the show?

I'm almost caught up with the show, and overall, I really like it!

Like someone said before, the acting isn't the best, but isn't terrible, so it's not painful to watch. Stephen Amell is HOT. I'm liking the fight scenes too, the plot is good. Moira is just a little kinda shady

I have to admit, it can get really lame and cheesy sometimes, though. Like when Oliver says, "-insert bad guy's name here-, you have failed this city." What was more cheesier was when Helena appeared in her costume and said the exact same thing. Couldn't help but to give it a little eye roll and a sigh. Haha but I like this show!

I'm hoping the writing gets better with the second season. Most shows do, I think. Buffy was pretty terrible and corny through the first season. Drastically better with the second season. Same deal with Smallville. Since Arrow is in the vein of those shows, I'm sure it will get better.

lol, Wow. I wasn't even aware he was dating someone. They seem really cute though. Good for them.

But I don't think this will go down well with a lot of fanboys/fangirls. Oop. Like when the SPN leads got married. Awkward. -_- So many people think those two are closeted. It's weird.

I hope for their sake it really is something that bloomed over the past year, not something to keep their publicists happy because of the still idiotic psychosis in Hollywood that up and coming stars have to be kept in the closet lest they lose their $bankability. I had no idea there were rumors about Cassandra too, though. We'll know sooner or later if it's true love or cynical farce.

A Victor Garber could come out far more easily because he's a character actor, not sex symbol or lead actor type. I'm glad Matt Bomer came out but he may have kissed his chances of doing anything other than character work or niche cable tv (as he currently does in" White Collar" goodbye but it doesn't seem to matter to him at least, thankfully.

That monkey bar stunt was AMAZING...i tell ya, Stephen's got the goods as a performer with his looks, build, AND personality...but his physical skills are what sets him apart. I'm sure in a few weeks there will be another stunt that you can't believe someone can do but there it is!

0_o She has gay rumors about her as well? Ok that is kind of strange, I guess. Although it sometimes seems like so many celebs have gay rumors about them...FWIW, in their photos they seem like they have more of a BFF chemistry than a romantic one, imo. Honestly, if this is some kind of bearding situation, then yeah it's sad. But hopefully it's not. That's depressing. Besides, Google say's he's at least had a gf before and the only 'gay' rumor I came across was some random person on DataLounge claiming that Amell alluded to being bisexual on Facebook once. By not clarifying his sexual orientation? Or something? IDEK.

Anyway, on JustJared, some people are arguing about it and it's mentioned that they were dating for a year before getting married. I guess it's pretty legit. Congrats to them etc. He does give me bi vibes tho. Ngl. I see what you mean. lol But not a 'gay vibe' like I get from someone like David Giuntoli of Grimm even though he's supposedly straight.

Yeah, his upper-body strength must be something else if he's able to pull of all of these stunts by himself. It's like some gymnast level stuff.

Oop. His mom failed the city. What.

Arrow has been filled with so much non-stop awesomeness since the x-mas break. It just keeps getting better, especially now that there is less focus on laying the ground work for world-building and character development (it was really heavy-handed at times and the dialogue was so awkward because of it).

Anyway, I love where they're going with Diggle and Felicity Smoak, incorporating them more and more in to Oliver's missions-- they all make a perfect team. Also, I think it's great that they now have Thea working with Laurel, hopefully it will give her more interesting things do -- her constant whining at home was getting really tired.

The Walter Is Missing mystery and Miora Queen's involvment is definitely my favorite plotline in the show right now. Is Walter really alive? I want him to return safely-- the Queens really care about him, even Oliver now. Anyway, Oliver's mother is the most fascinating character on the show, tbh. She is so hard to read. I never know what she's thinking or doing. lol

But I just CAN'T with Arrow's disguise. It is so weak, and he's like standing a couple feet away from Laurel and her father in some of these episodes. Such bullshit. And what is going on with his voice? Is it some kind of device he's wearing that changes the tone it? It's odd.

But in the teaser for 1x14, she will be fighting back it seems. She's pointing a gun at him.

I bet Moira, her intelligence, and her motherly instincts will connect the dots and figure out that "da hewd" is her son!

And I totally agree with you on his weak disguise. How do they not know!? In yesterdays episode, if he went and said, "Mama, you have failed this city," they probably would've made it so that she still wouldn't know

But that's contradictory of what I said about her intelligence. lol

    Re: Arrow (CW)

Arrow got an early renewal from CW. Along with Vampire Diaries and Supernatural.

The CW gives early pickups to 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Arrow' and 'Supernatural'

Getting a head start on pickups for the 2013-2014 season, The CW has renewed three of its most popular shows.

Earning pickups on Monday (February 11) morning were "Arrow," "The Vampire Diaries" and "Supernatural."

"Arrow" has been The CW's biggest hit since, yes, "The Vampire Diaries," which has been slightly usurped in overall viewership, but remains The CW's top-rated show in all of its targeted demographics, including adults 18-34 and women 18-34.

    http://www.hitfix.com/news/the-cw-gi...d-supernatural

And Laurel's mother will be played by Alex Kingston. I didn't realize that she had been cast a while back but she is amazing. I'm looking forward to it.

'Arrow' scoop: 'ER' actress is Laurel's mom -- EXCLUSIVE

Want to meet Laurel Lance’s missing mother?

Former ER series regular Alex Kingston is joining The CW’s breakout superhero drama Arrow in a recurring guest star role. The British actress will play Dinah Lance — Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) mom and Detective Quentin’s (Paul Blackthorne) ex-wife. Later this season Dinah will return to Starling City to make amends with her family that she abandoned years earlier following the tragic death of her daughter aboard Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) yacht.

Aw. No, I like Thea (and the actress who plays her) but the writers seem like they are having trouble figuring out what to do with her. The show doesn't really have room for teenage melodrama. The law firm setting should help.

Tommy has been the most pointless character thus far. Honestly, I zone out whenever he shows up to cry/talk about Laurel and how much he loves her. Zzzzzz.

Things really need to start getting more interesting with him and his Evil Dad.

I know! The revelation of his dad being the bad guy has had no effect on any of Tommy's relationships with anyone so far.

Maybe that's why I get these dirty thoughts every time I see him. Would surely spice things up

Diggles & Felicity helping to save Oliver's life. Just free-styling some medical stuff but it worked somehow, mkay. And their snarky exchanges and bonding. Felicity cannot get any more awesome and adorable. I squeed when she agreed to be temporarily part of their team in order to find Walter. Welp, the actress was recently promoted to a series regular so this works out.

Also, this was the best "island flashback" storyline thus far. Slade and Oliver getting a feel for each other and kicking some ass in the process. I have to give Stephen Amell some credit for once when it comes to his acting-- he's always pretty impressive at portraying island!Oliver in a very distinct way from the hardened, present-day Oliver. Island!Oliver's fussy, naive reactions to things makes me laugh so much. And Slade was taking advantage of that goofiness-- 2 hours watching him build a fire when he had a lighter all along. So. Messy.

K, next episode we get Roy Harper ( aka Red Arrow/Speedy/Arsenal) played by the ridiculously good-looking Colton Haynes. He will be part of the cast from then on and his character will be involved with Thea. IDK how Arrow fandom will handle him + Amell. Will their fangirls/fanboys combust from hotness overload? Get ready y'all.

Aren't shows like this usually aimed at straight men? It makes me wonder since there has not been a single episode without Oliver taking his shirt off.

I literally watch this show on mute just for the shirtless scenes. Stephen Amell is so hot, if he walked by my construction site, I'd grab my crotch and whistle.

On mute? That takes dedication, tbh.

Now you can also watch Colton on mute, too. Personally I find him more attractive than Amell.

Well, the CW as a network, typically appeals to women 18-34 and they tend to target this demographic more than any other but it's trying to win over males in the same age demo with shows like Arrow. So, yeah, they still care about keeping the interest of a female audience with all CW shows (even though they want to branch out more and broaden their appeal). Also, to be fair, there are many women who love the superhero/fantasy genre.

Damn, am I late to this thread or what? Anyway, better late than never.

I'm loving the show so far - it achieves the right balance of cheesiness and awesomeness that Smallville tried for but only occasionally succeeded at.

Omg, next episode is gonna be...on March 20th. No.

Ok, so it seems like Oliver keeps on revealing his secret identity as a vigilante.

But I am just so relieved that Tommy knows about it, now. Actually I loved everything about this episode. It seemed to be all about fleshing out Tommy and Malcolm Merlyn and they proved to be really interesting characters in their own right. I'm really intrigued by their side of the story line for once. I wonder how much of his secrets Malcolm plans to tell Tommy.

It was also nice to see Tommy and Oliver with some substantial conversations. They had some nice scenes in this one and they actually came across as best friends finally. But Tommy seems really pissed off about Oliver keeping the secret. I will be expecting some major awkwardness in the future. Especially keeping this from Laurel. ~

Moira Queen...she is cold as ice. Going up to visit them in hospital after planning it all. Love her.

LOL! I know. I love that about it. At first some of the cheesiness was throwing me off but now I've grown to appreciate it. So funny.

That was another great episode. I've never wanted the hero of a show to lose so badly before. I kept wanting to shout through the screen, "Your mother is trying to save the city! Stop it!"
There are no words. Just the sound of jacking off.
