Why does the US Postal Service suck so bad?

Friday I had to mail something and buy some stamps.

I wanted just regular generic stamps with a flag, bell or statue of liberty.

All they had were these stupid pastel colored bonsai tree stamps so I had no choice. They don't even care about their customers they just offer you shit and it's take it or leave it.

My post man is the biggest unfriendliest miserable jerk I ever met.

When he fucked up and forgot to deliver the mail that was held while I was on vacation for the second year in a row. He fucking close talks to me and tells me it's my neighbors fault that he was worried she would steal my mail. So I reported his ass for lying to me last year. If he wants to be nasty I'll give him a reason for it.

Also prices are ridiculously high to mail something. A few months ago I mailed something that was 1 pound and .08 ounces. Not 1 pound and 8 ounces. One pound and one either of an ounce and I had to pay for 2 pounds. My options were priority mail for like $8 or parcel post for $7.79.

Yeah, the USPS is pretty much garbage and that is one public union I wouldn't mind being busted up.

Same as the government, they are a service of the government, but run not like a business.

For years now, in every place I've lived, the postmen and women have been thoroughly courteous and helpful and I've always enjoyed our brief encounters. The same is true of the postal workers in my local satelite office. Really nice people giving excellent and quick service. Unfortunately, my local office is scheduled to close. People were nice there as well.

I like commemoratives: I've currently got sheets commemorating Gregory Peck, Edward Hopper and the New Mexico Centennial. I used the Bonsai ones when I was in Kaua'i earlier in the year.

When I lived in NJ my postal lady was nice, especially after she fucked up a delivery I had. That's how it should be, they should be apologetic and more friendly and admit to when they fuck up. I had a postman for two years in Florida that I never saw because it was an apartment and the mail was left near the rear of the building.

Don't bitch unless you've priced shipping by the other carriers.......or live in Canada.
