Re: Clinton has Benghazi Flu -- Won't Testify To Congress

the conspiracy was to hold info from the american public initially - the original lies - the doubletalk - for almost 2 weeks

Gosh darn Obama for not knowing everything the minute it happened! I guess his crystal ball was broken that day. Also, darn the CIA for not telling us everything, because they always disclose everything they know to the public. I mean, look at Valerie Plame. She had the nerve to try to stay undercover, but that patriotic Republican Scooter Libby blew her cover because it was the right thing to do!

pres. obama Mitt Romney ran in 2008 2012 on a platform and mantra that is so opposite of how he conducts himself, his campaign and his decision making

    There. Fixed for accuracy.

The American economy is still in the dumps after four years. Lackluster growth. Millions of people have given up on the American dream. If there was a republican president right now -- you'd be calling for his resignation.

Weird last I checked we are the only western nation that is headed in the right direction with employment and growth.... THE ONLY western nation. I wonder why that is?

So what should the President do? Snap his fingers and make everything better? That's what many seem to be suggesting on here. Actually, the US economy isn't in the dumps and has improved steadily. Growth has been solid, but not spectacular. This can be more attributed to the lack of action within the Congress.

And don't tell me what I would be doing or not. A republican got us into this fucking mess, and a democrat has to pick up the pieces. Don't skirt around the reality.
The guy just pushed through a tax increase on almost all Americans. What happened to JOBS, JOBS, JOBS?

No. A republican was in office when it happened and only accelerated what was already happening. The 'mess' had been building for 30 years.

First of all, lower/higher taxes does not equate to more/less jobs. Jobs are created when the demand is there to meet them. If you want to point fingers at people, point them at all of the companies that are posting large profits and sitting on huge cash reserves but aren't utilizing them to create jobs (at least in this country.)

Second of all, "the guy" didn't just push through anything. The only reason taxes went up on everyone was because the payroll tax holiday was allowed to expire (the only tax that affects everyone.) That was never meant to be permanent and thus is not an increase. The rate was merely allowed to return to where it originally was after "the guy" pushed for it to be temporarily during his first term in office. Also, you should definitely enroll in a US Government 101 class to learn how laws are passed in this country. The President doesn't do it. Congress does. I don't see how you can sit there and claim he doesn't show leadership and then turn around and say he showed enough leadership to force Congress to raise taxes. It's one or the other, assuming you actually want to make a valid point instead of just trying to create controversy where there is none.

Finally, the President has little, if any, control over job creation. If you're like most conservatives and tout all of the benefits of Capitalism, then you need to also accept the negatives that come with it. In a capitalist system, the sole purpose is to generate profit for the business. They don't care about employees, the customers, or the larger economy. Those are all just means to the end of maximizing profit. If the demand isn't there that absolutely requires a company to hire someone, they're not going to hire anyone. If you want to be mad at something, be mad at the corporations for not generating enough demand for their product to require hiring additional employees. Be mad at the people who turn their nose up at working a low paying job because they're holding out for their dream job. Be mad at the places that farm stuff out overseas in order to reduce costs. I see the President attempting to do what he can to help people out. The same can't be said for the "on your own" conservatives and "too big to fail" corporations that love sucking from the teat of the government but will be up in arms if they're asked to do anything to give back to it.

    the "UnderBridge?" LOL

u and the guy NO ONE likes keep using that term - it's so silly - and not very funny either

I believe the use of it is yet another symptom of the dreaded Obamallegiance

needing to silence those who don't live in the pod (see Invasion of the Body Snatchers)

    as for Hills,

    she's back to work tomorrow

    YEAH !!!!

hopefully some day soon she'll share her thoughts on Benghazi - I don't expect much frankly

so much time has passed and in Obamamania, it's ceased to exist - it's been wiped from the slate

think of it as OBAMA FARM - Orwellian

Hills better be careful - if she fesses up about the real story of Benghazi, they'll send her to the glue factory

Chance, you think any of us are taking these fake outrages remotely seriously.

We stomp on your b.s. but that's all we're doing. You seem to be under this delusion that we're panicky and running around doing damage control and defending Obama. These outrages are all ridiculous. It's clear what motivates these thread and it's equally clear there's nothing that you or Jack can hear other than "Obama completely fails" that registers in your minds.

If this is the best you got, this is the best you got. When these outrages amount to failures that actually harm anyone other than by inventing an unsupportable conspiracy theory around them and making mishaps look like planned policy I'll actually feel like damage control is necessary. Till then all we're basically doing is making fun of you guys. You make yourselves look like shrieking ideologues desperate to find any mud to sling no matter how petty, small and imaginary it is. That's all the more seriously we take it.

Do you even listen to the news? Obama got his way on taxes, he got his way on eliminating the social security tax holiday. He's the President of the United States.

    Unbelievable.

I do listen to the news. I don't listen to Fox News. The President did not get his way with taxes. He wanted the rate to return to pre-Bush levels on people making over $200,000/250,000. The cut off was set at $400,000/450,000. You are right in that he didn't want to extend the payroll tax holiday, because when it was passed in his first term, it was never meant to be permanent. The payroll taxes fund Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid. They would run out of money even faster if the tax cut was made permanent and everyone knew this. They were lowered as part of a temporary stimulus and now that we are not in an economic free fall, they were allowed to go back to where they were supposed to be.

How you didn't understand that reading my previous post or "listening to the news" is what is truly unbelievable!

Nobody is considering that $200-250K before 2001, was equivalent to something higher now. Not quite as high as $400/450K, but probably at least $310K or something. So the gap between the new reality, and the Clinton reality, is not quite as great.

When the "payroll tax holiday" went into effect, I was P-I-S-S-E-D O-F-F! My thought at the time was that it was the "foot in the door" to completely destroy Social Security and the medical ones, or eventually use it as a ploy for the Feds (read: Republicans) to just take that whole thing and THROW that money at Wall Street, so they could gamble it all away and sniff the rest up their noses.

If course most of us know that if they just threw all that damned money at Wall Street, it wouldn't suddenly be put into place in three hours, logistics and new financial structures and all. No, it would take months to accomplish. In anticipation of this ****MASSIVE***** new demand, stock prices would skyrocket. These federal funds would go in at the absolute highest stock market possible and, once the expectation of this new one-time surge was consummated, I think stock prices would go into a HORRIFIC crash.

The federal entitlement monies would go into the stock market at prices that would not be seen again for at least twenty or thirty years and, as it quickly becomes almost worthless, those who saw this coming would be walking away with platinum parachutes. Gold isn't good enough.

The markets would also crash because of all the super-rich who invested in this bubble, and many of whom would suddenly sell their stocks. It wouldn't surprise me if it crashed the market from the 30,000's to the 4,000's. Of course, as some point, people would start buying stocks at the bargain prices and it would go back up, but retirees, those dependent on outside medical care, etc. would be flattened.

    The Humiliating Debacle in Ben*ghazi

Hillary Clinton, on September 21st, 10 days after the attack said to reporters before she was to meet with the Pakistani foreign minister

“What happened was a terrorist attack, and we will not rest until we have tracked down and brought to justice the terrorists who murdered four Americans.”
That was about 4 mos. ago - what's actually happened since then doesn't suggest getting to the bottom of it and it's worse than that

“We’re not even close,” says one U.S. official involved in the investigation.
There are three suspects but we're not able to talk to one and the other two well ....

One leading suspect is in custody—Egyptian custody—and we’re being denied access to him. Another sipped a strawberry frappe in the lobby of a luxury hotel in Benghazi as he told a New York Times reporter that he felt no need to hide from the United States. And when a third suspect was freed from a Tunisian prison earlier this month, the U.S. government was given no warning, but extremists belonging to an al Qaeda-linked group apparently had advance notice.
The Tunisa details are especially troubling - if you care to read - sorta chilling at just how fucked in the region we are - and how we have NO cred and there's no fear of American strength

    So where are we ?

Despite its many promises, after four months of a criminal investigation, the U.S. government has made little progress on bringing the Benghazi attackers to justice. The Obama administration, which came to office trumpeting “smart power,” has shown itself unable to produce cooperation even from governments receiving vast sums of aid from the United States without congressional threats. And now, the same terrorist organizations that supplied the attackers for the assaults on American facilities in Benghazi and Tunis are openly threatening FBI investigators and celebrating the release of one of the few suspects in the 9/11/12 attacks.
So it looks like this is a long lasting problem for the U.S. well beyond the murder of four innocents. Lots of lip service (the specialty) by the Admin. but no there there

Look how long it took to catch Bin Laden, who wasn't particularly hiding and was in regular need of kidney dialysis.

If I read this article correctly these men have split to the virtual four corners of the world and aren't major well known figures to begin with.

So I'm not sure of the angle here other than "look, inept, they haven't caught them yet."

What?!?! People in a historically violent and distrusting part of the world are releasing prisoners instead of turning them over to the US and aren't cooperating with our investigation? And what's that? When left to choose their own democratically elected governments, they don't choose one exactly like our's? No way! But you're right, it's somehow the President's fault.

Nah, I'm sure Michelle Obama will wear an OUTRAGEOUSLY insensitive and offensively colored dress SOMETIME this year. And she might even get photographed in it near KIDS.

It's not a payroll tax increase. It's an end to a payroll tax holiday.

Oh Jesus Christ.... this again? Beat that dead horse.

How about starting up with Whitewater again? Haven't heard about that for a while.

Barack Obama will be the President for the next four years. Deal with it.

Mitt Romney and Lyin' Ryan lost, and LOST big time. A couple of losers......!

    Deal with it.

I'm sorry, what is the topic? It's nothing to do with Benghazi, that's for sure.

i think the families of the four dead americans are interested in the "progress" we're making

didn't President Tax Increase tell us that we would get to the bottom of this ?

    i seem to recall

not sure why you're upset about Chris Christie's weight but not about finding the terrorists who killed the ambassador and 3 others

    seems mixed up

my educated guess is you didn't read the article

my guess is no one who has responded here has

    From xbuxxerx' cite

As for Obama, the attacks in Cairo and Benghazi are the first two attacks on a U.S. diplomatic mission in an ostensibly peaceful country during his entire presidency—and they were sparked by that idiot wingnut Islamophobe Terri Jones. The embassy in Afghanistan was targeted by the Taliban last Sept. 13, but that's a country at war.
In contrast, there were 11 such incidents while Rumsfeld was SecDef.

There we go again with the faux outrage about the "four dead americans". That's a Fox-induced headline. I've heard them say that over and over and over..... "four dead americans".

The "four dead americans"..... "the four dead americans"..... but zero comments on war crimes from the right wingers.

Where were your tears for the hundreds of thousands murdered and maimed in the illegal wars started by your pal Dubya and the Vampire? How about those dead kids in Newtown? Do you know what 11 bullets from an assault rifle will do to a 6 year old boy? How about those 27 "dead americans"...?

When you start using complete sentences we might actually take you seriously.

For someone who lives in glorious, glamourous, wonderland New York you sure spend a lot of time in this forum complaining about all things Democratic. Get out and enjoy life. If Astoria is as good as you say it is, why aren't you out experiencing it?

Get over this Benghazi crap. It's nothing more than another failed right wing manufactured scandal.

    were there less ? more?

    were they americans? no ?

We place your continuing outrage over this within the proper context that the more deadly embassy attacks under past Presidents were hardly so much as a blip on the radar, and that there is nothing particularly devastating, ominous, or even different about this one-- except that you personally attribute every stepped on blade of grass right now as being the fault of a President you don't like.

Exactly--and Astoria isn't so glamorous---but the West Village where I live is But some gays just want to be different and stand out and stir up the pot---there are some right wingers in progressive capital of the USA--NYC but usually they are really rich and don't want to pay taxes---there are a few right wing losers that have no money but are still right wingers..ha ha

What I find bizarre is he belittles anyone who doesn't live in glorious, glamourous, wonderland New York. Anyone who lives west of the Hudson River lives in "Bumfucknowheresville". But he spends countless hours in an internet forum arguing with people who live in Bumfucknowheresville trying to appear superior to anyone who doesn't think like he does. If Astoria is as wonderful as he claims then why does he spend all his time on the internet? Why isn't he out with friends? I think we know the answer.

He uses a pretentious posting style he thinks makes him appear educated but it only makes himself look ridiculous. Not to mention his political heroes failed miserably which must be humiliating for him.

West Village is great. Lucky you!

It's a shame that none of the Obama bashing rags you read seem to have quoted the President when he said he did accept responsibility. However, instead of crucifying him like you and your ilk would like to see, everyone moved on with the understanding that people can and will die when posted in dangerous countries overseas that are just coming off of a civil war with no strong central government and with militias providing basic security in most areas. Most people also understand that Americans have died overseas under every president since George Washington. I'm sure it is upsetting for the families, but the people who were killed knew the risks they were taking and that being killed was a real possibility. I don't seem to be able to find an equal level of outrage from you and the demand for extensive investigations every time a soldier is killed in Afghanistan.

^ what do you think of the fact that the 3 "suspects" are not available to us

that one of them was released by a govt. that is spitting in our eye

that they're releasing photos/names of FBI members

none of the members whose posts have been deleted have read it

yet they criticize the mention of it
