    we were told:

it was a spontaneous anti american action fueled by a video
    no it wasn't
rather it was a well planned terror attack
which was known from the get go

5 days before the attack, pres. obama told the democratic national convention that terror is done - all done - over - it was his # 1 success - as the economy sucks

    clearly not the case

now jayhawk says logically he doesn't see hicks as ........ viable .... why so late ?

i think obama's story is not viable

or rather trying to mask this story is more viable

    the inconvenient truth

meanwhile no one has been arrested for this

    what's that about

Yeah, and it repeatedly happens in thread after thread on CEP.

    No One arrested?

So if you mean in Libya then I volunteer you to go there and tell whatever FBI and CI folks on the ground they are failures.

If you mean in the United States Government then wouldn't you think Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Powell and others should be arrested and tried... that is if we are going off of lies that killed Americans. Their trial should take a bit of time ya think?

Oh wait you are the guy saying they did their best, we cant be convicting folks of trying their best... lol

And folks who look at it without a jaundiced eye are the ball lickers.... oops I mean butt lickers, as your savant has to change that up since you wore it out.....

No I think the wishy washy is on the other foot but we will see. I am positive you will get your wish and Issa will subpoena whomever and then be told to go fuck himself. BUT at least the inept congress wont have to be focused on silly shit like the economy or budget.

SO did you actually have anything to contribute to the thread? Or are you just in the taunt mode?

Here I will spell it out for you....

You said "Someone should be arrested"

    I said "WHO"

Now is that simple enough for ya?

Well perhaps you shouldnt post wasted.

I brought up Centex to illustrate the point you play dumb when you dont wanna actually answer the points made. You have blonde roots?

Tx just pulls your chain because he thinks there is very little else of substance to engage... it seems most everyone else is there too... every thread is just you seeing who you can get to taunt and play games. The third grade musta been a bitch for you to relive it every night here.

So the perps should get the handcuffs. I agree. What do you suggest? Should we invade Syria to find them? Oops I said 'we' as if you would be doing anything. It took 11 years and a president focused on the mission instead of on war mongering to get OBL and we knew who the fuck he was... we have no idea who did Benghazi.

I already have acknowledged the 'stink' as you put it. Still not the grand conspiracy that would make right wingers piss their pants but we will see that as time rolls by..

I am pretty sure I have posted extensively in this thread and only remarked that Bush should be arrested and tried IF that is the idea these hearings are headed towards in Obama's case. I realize when out of anything to argue the "your blaming Bush" argument brings a lot of savants to your side BUT it was for illustration purposes. I doubt a US President will ever see legal repercussions for their actions.

Oh, I ALREADY know that Obama is a crook. And so was Dubya, Clinton, Bush One, Reagan, Haig**, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy, Eisenhower, Truman, FDR, Hoover, Coolidge, Harding, Wilson...OK, a century will do, but I could keep listing them.

I can probably successfully include ALL MAJOR contending candidates, from BOTH of the "big" Parties during the pre-nomination phase in Leap Years, on this list as well, in my lifetime.

[**who said "I'm in charge now" in 1981, from the White House I think, when Reagan was incapacitated from the assassination attempt]

Perhaps William Henry Harrison didn't even have enough TIME to become a crook, but it's a lead-pipe cinch that, nowadays, Presidency in the United States is utterly IMPOSSIBLE for somebody to attain, if they aren't a crook.

    BENGHAZI!!!!

I don't know what "truth" there is more to tell here. The guy was killed in the terrorist attack on the embassy. Do you want to hear more about the alien abduction that happened in between, and the Obama-designed lethal virus that was used to kill Sean Smith? Or... I dunno, that the ambassador was secretly having sex with a terrorist on direct orders from Hillary?

A lot more reasonable and on point than the rejectionist crap from the vast majority of the 85... let the chips fall where they may. The Administration im my belief lost the narrative and tried to smoke and mirror everything and leave things so muddled eventually everyone would just go away. When Hillary Clinton whined about what did it matter what happened, with how it happened, whether there was a video or not it was after a couple of months of a complete stall game from the Administration on just what actually happened. She lost any respect I had for her at that point. Let the chips fall where they may, and let intellectual honesty rather than partisan bile carry the day with these hearings. I wish the Democrats and Republicans weren't so polarized but the truth may in the end flatter neither side. It is though a valuable service that we get to hear about all of what was going on at the time of the attack and to make sure no one who was there or has something pertinent to answering the question honestly and fully feels dissuaded or intimidated into not speaking out.

By an explosion or a bullet. Does it really matter which of those? Why do you keep pretending there's a conspiracy here?

Oh wait, maybe the ambassador sold him out to the terrorists to save his skin! Or no, wait! Hilary dropped by and slit his throat because "three dead Americans!" Just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I love reading your posts, I truly do. They remind me not to worry. That republicans are so hilariously demented and out of touch with the reality in America, that they won't even smell the White House for many years to come ^_^

Re: Attack on American Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi [MERGED]

meanwhile, back on the Benghazi front .......

couple of snippets but by all means read the whole article and look for other sources as well - after all we all want the truth right?

Gregory Hicks, Ambassador Stevens right hand .... says he was demoted since returning to DC following the terror attack - because he spoke out against the administrations handling

“I’ve been effectively demoted from deputy chief of mission to desk officer,” he said during a six-hour hearing of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
He added that the investigation was less than thorough with key people NOT being interviewed

Mr. Hicks and two other State Department officials who were witnesses said they felt that the investigation of the episode undertaken by the department was inadequate because many people who were directly involved in the attacks — including some of them — were not interviewed.

“They stopped short of interviewing people who I personally know were involved in key decisions,” said Eric Nordstrom, an official in the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security.
Hicks said he questioned Rice's version of events "the video did it" approach - and that it was not good

Mr. Hicks testified that his relationship with his superiors began to sour after he started asking questions about why Ms. Rice initially blamed a YouTube video, not terrorism, for the attack. “The sense I got was that I needed to stop the line of questioning,” he said.
he was told not to co-operate with a Republican congressman who visited Libya

And when Representative Jason Chaffetz, Republican of Utah, visited Libya to investigate further, Mr. Hicks said his bosses told him not to talk to the congressman. When he did anyway, and a State Department lawyer was excluded from one meeting because he lacked sufficient security clearance, Mr. Hicks said he received an angry phone call from Mrs. Clinton’s chief of staff, Cheryl Mills.
    The video narrative was bullshit

All three witnesses — Mr. Hicks, Mr. Nordstrom and Mark I. Thompson, the former deputy coordinator for operations in the State Department’s Counterterrorism Bureau — insisted that the inflammatory anti-Islamic YouTube video that the White House initially blamed for the attack was something they never considered a factor in the assault on the compound.

It's probably about time for the Republicans to focus on other Democrats as well, while of course keeping Obamahate at the forefront. It's also because of the blue dress that Bill Clinton stained, I-tells-ya!!!

    My sentiments exactly....

    http://swampland.time.com/2013/05/08/benghazi-again/

Could it have been the person in charge of embassy security issues? More likely, and that person resigned after the subsequent investigations…and even that might have been unfair for two reasons. Security was up to the Ambassador and Chris Stevens was well known for erring on the side of greater public access to U.S. facilities. Or, more plausibly, reason number two…

Could it have been the Republicans who consistently voted against funds for increased embassy security? Hmmm…that makes their current carping seem awfully political, doesn’t it? Again, sins of politics are not mortal. But one does wonder why the Republicans tend to fix on issues like this, which are defined by their absence of substance. (I haven’t noticed the Republicans clamoring to spend more on embassy security–which would be a matter of substance, happily embraced by the Administration. But that would require a budget deal, which would give the President a win.)

That is the key aspect of this attack, republicans seek to find a bone to chew on while covering their own shame at failing to fund the security measures.

Lol - the KEY aspect is not the political prism rather what happened

And 3 very credible non political administration employees who were very much in the know raise serious questions

    Not political ones

MJ is actually covering Benghazi this morning but totally caring water for the OA.

They are pretty much calling Hicks a liar.

Anyway anyone looks at this -- there needs to be answers to why security was so lax.

Do you guys really not care? Richard Nixon would have loved to have you around in the 70's.

JH, we've gone over this over and over again -- more democrats voted to cut spending for embassies. Let's hear some facts and not talking points.

    Uncomfortable, huh

“With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night decided to go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make?” Clinton asked the Republican Senator. “It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again.”

What happened Hillary Clinton. You're still not talking.

When John Kennedy was murdered do we blame the Secret Service for their perceived inadequacies or accept that there are no security guarantees for diplomats stationed in unstable countries and that the across aisle blame game won't resurrect the dead.

GOP Rep: I ‘Absolutely’ Voted To Cut Funding For Embassy Security

    http://thinkprogress.org/security/20...assy-security/

[GOP vice presidential nominee Paul] Ryan, [Rep. Darrell] Issa and other House Republicans voted for an amendment in 2009 to cut $1.2 billion from State operations, including funds for 300 more diplomatic security positions. Under Ryan’s budget, non-defense discretionary spending, which includes State Department funding, would be slashed nearly 20 percent in 2014, which would translate to more than $400 million in additional cuts to embassy security.
With all the cutting that's going on, the Republicons should hire a mohel!

It is funny they will attempt to lay this on Obama and Hillary and yet ask neither to testify. It is a political game. Hicks was located in fucking Tripoli and is lying eight months later to gain political favor. Look for him as a republican appointee somewhere soon.

What is amazing is the Jon Stewart claim that in Bush 52 diplomatic mission attack occurred, 13 americans died and only three hearings were held for all fifty two. WHY? because a republican was responsible for the cluster fuck (by their rules) instead of the criminal/terrorist.

This whole Benghazi thing is nothing more than a manufactured scandal dreamed up by the right wing. They're hoping to impeach President Obama and discredit Hillary Clinton to screw up her chance in case there's a 2016 Presidential run.

Remember Whitewater? The right wing tried their damnedest to scandalize that and nothing came from it.

The Presidents political enemies won't stop attempting to dig up dirt on him but they'll fall flat on their face every time. How about trying to win an election honestly, republicans?

He is, but another republican who tried to manufacture a scandal is dead, Joseph McCarthy.

Wonder what the next republican-manufactured scandal will be?

It seems to me to be a never ending cycle of he said she said.

The dangers & realities of our world need regulated & often destroyed while unfortunately some of said efforts exist out-of-bounds of currently acceptable societal mores & ideas.

Be that as it may, let America never again fall asleep to said dangers.

Bombing of U.S. Embassy in Beirut
Bombing of Marine barracks in Beirut
Bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait
Bombing of U.S. Embassy annex northeast of Beirut

and other terrorist arracks during the Reagan administration no one wants to remember....

Hijacking of Kuwait Airways Flight 221
    Hijacking of TWA Flight 847
    Hijacking of cruise ship Achille Lauro;
    Bombing of Rome, Vienna airports
Bombing of Pan Am Flight 103

    241 dead Americans

Jesus Christ...... Ronald Reagan turned a blind eye to all these terrorist attacks but since he's a republican Saint it's okay.
