    Christmas music

    So last night we saw a performance of Bach's Christmas Oratorio at the Koerner music hall in Toronto. Wonderful venue, excellent performance, seats 4th row centre orchestra....who could ask for better?

    At some point about midway through...I sat there wishing that they would just break out into 'White Christmas'.

    I could hardly wait for it to end so that I could come home, crawl into my jammies and crash on the couch to watch Chelsea Lately.

    I even ducked all the 'Messiahs' this year.


    Sigh. I think that I've become jaded.

    so what has your best Holiday music experience been this year?

    I did house music for a local Christmas concert a few days ago. I mostly sat around bored. My heart is still three sizes too small.

    I like the Trans-Siberian Orchestra one that's always played on the radio...orchestral Christmas music has always been my favourite...not sure why, as I'm not a fan of classical music, but I love it during the holidays!

    Oh, and Mariah Carey's song...heard it SEVEN times today. Fuck my life.

    I went shopping for Christmas music in October. Went to all the used record stores, found their stash of Christmas music (usually stuffed away in the back), and bought a bunch of crappy Christmas albums for a quarter a piece. Then I recorded them all into my computer, cleaned them up, and put them in my iPod. Lots of classical and easy listening tracks. I really don't like the modern pop Christmas stuff at all. Which sucks, because God knows I heard Christmas songs sung by the Glee cast every time I step outside.

    It seems every holiday, I gravitate towards a different "traditional" song, and a different "pop" song. This year, I've been listening to "In the Bleak Midwinter" and "Wexford Carol" a lot. The pop song is, I'm ashamed to say, "Open Me First".

    Serious XM has like 8 different channels of christmas music. This morning I was at HomeDepot and as I was looking around I started singing along with their in store music. Some people came peeking around the end of the aisle, I guess they were curious as to who was singing "Santa Baby" at 7 am.

    And it really describe how I feel about Christmas now.

    Expensive lovely presents or any materials stuffs no longer excite me.

    I love xmas music (break out my xmas CD's & MP3's at the beginning of november)
    I don't care for oldies or classical ... in both cases deff not my thing at all
    I much prefer country/pop/rock & definitely techno/dance type
