Guillermo Del Toro's "Pacific Rim" trailer.

This movie is supposed to be homage to giant monster movies such as Kaiju and all. Looks cool enough to me, I love me some Toro movies. One really cool thing is that anyone who plays video games, specifically valve games should recognize a voice in the trailer.

Yes, I recognized GLaDOS's voice immediately. It was just one of many things in the trailer that made me realize how unoriginal the movie appears. Everything seemed borrowed from something else. So far looking like a huge, messy meatball sundae.

Oh come now! I'm personally really excited! I would say this is more of a love letter to the genre like Frank Miller's Sin City was to Noir. So of course there's going to be giant monsters. Of course there will be robots!

I'm so excited! Course, I was hoping we might see Idris Elba rim Charlie Hunnam but I guess I'll have to wait for the fakes thread to do that before the movie does!

Well it being a homage I'd imagine a lot of things were "borrowed" from other movies. I trust that it will be a good movie considering it is from Guillermo Del Toro.

Disappointments from other big budget directors have taught me not to automatically place my loyalty to them simply by their name alone. (ex: Spielberg, Abrams, Lucas, Jackson, Burton). I call things as I see them. Seriously, the trailer looks like a Michael Bay movie (that's not a good thing). Del Toro's reputation is greatly exaggerated. Yes, I loved Pan's Labyrinth. Nothing else by him I can say that.

I like Pans Labrynth, both Hellboy films, The Devils Backbone, Blade II was alright haven't watched it years though. Mimic sucked, and Cronos was a pretty good film for what it was. I enjoy his movies for the most part and even though this movie trailer doesn't have me bursting at the seems but I like the premise and him.

Obviously this movie can be completely awful, but we won't know until we see it. I've seen plenty of trailers that had me hyped for the movie only to be an awful or mediocre at best movie. I've had movies that I've had absolutely no interest in based on the trailer, ended up eventually seeing said movie and enjoying it.

<---- I'll be seeing it for that reason and for the fact that I love big giant robots and Guillermo del Toro. I don't mind that it looks and sounds like other movies like it, it's still going to be hella fun.

    True.

Honestly, the trailer makes the movie seem like it'll have a really weak/thin plot that will only be there to serve the spectacle but even if it does end up being shitty, it seems like it'll be pretty fun anyway. Mindless but fun.

I can't wait to see all the Jaegers. Apparently Europe has three (Germany, France and the UK). I can't wait to see the UK one!

Now it looks like Warner Brothers put a lot of Money into this Flick where a Team of Sexy Humans jump into their favorite color Giant Monster machines and lay the Smack down on the Real Giant monsters.

Why didn’t the Studio just buy the rights to the 80's Cartoon Voltron and make all that money from Voltron fans like myself?

Idris Elba is a God and he makes ANY flick Sexier...I don't think we've ever seen his Booty on the Big & Small screens....

finally, finally, FINALLY! I've been begging to see some Kiss Ass Monsters ALL year long and Pacific Rim delivered. 2hrs/10min of Giant Machines Vs Badass Giant Monsters...Action galore.... Like "Fast & Furious" this another Strong & Diverse cast of players. The VERY beautiful & Sexy Idris Elba leads a team of young & old Power Ranger like-fighters. These fighters arent Kid cheezy and are waay Fuckable for the Adult viewer. If anyone wonders why Holly Wood is noticing Idris more & more Pacific Rim will answer your question. He's a great actor and incredible Eye-Candy. He delivers a Commanding performance & his British accent makes you Love him even more. Idris told a reporter last year that he's been booked to do so many movies he's living in hotel rooms across the World.

I agree with a Film-Critic that said the Director & Studio should be ashamed of themselves for DANCING around the Love-connection between a White Male & Asian Female. They were attracted to each other in every scene for 2hrs yet all we see is a friendly hug and MAYBE a kiss on the forehead. It's 2013 folks the average Movie-Goer is Cool with interracial Love, Smooching and Humping.

I'm going to see the Flick again this weekend or next week...It's worth a 2nd viewing....

Very fun movie. The special effects were pretty phenomenal to look at and a lot of vibrant colors used during the big fights, especially in the city. One complaint with that is that there was too much rain at times that got in the way to see what was going in a fight, kind of got the idea that maybe that was to hide some not so good effects? Who knows.

And my only other complaint is there were a lot of stories to tell but the movie didn't have a lengthy enough time to flesh them out to give a better depth and dynamic between characters. Still a good movie, though.
