Do you watch late night talk shows? Who is your favorite?

I watch Chelsea and then Letterman. The others don't really appeal to me. If Chelsea and Letterman weren't on I'd most likely be watching Conan.

I also love Brand X, Russell Brand's once-a-week talk show. He's so witty and funny and intelligent and has great guests and segments.

I think Letterman is my favorite though.

I use to really like Leno, but started to notice his jokes got reused a lot. Leno and Conan were at their best during the writers strike a few years back.

I used to watch Conan religiously going back to when he was on Late Night but now I watch The Daily Show/Colbert instead. My favorite late night type show would have to be Real Time with Bill Maher.

I only watch if a person I want to see is on.

I heard Leno has never introduced a new act. Ie: Carson introduces Roseanne, Seinfeld among others

If you have not already you should read "The War for Late Night: When Leno Went Early and Television Went Crazy".

Leno wasn't the bad guy. It was the head of NBC and Conan's people. I still feel bad for Conan though.

I usually watch Conan And Jay Leno, Jay show used to be very good and sharp before he gave the show to Conan. Its not as funny as it used to be

I think Jay is a good natured kind of guy but I don't like his interviews very much. The reason I watch Carson Daly's Last Call is because he has these offbeat guests who are actually really interesting people for the most part...I think he knows how to find their vibe and showcase it.

I don't watch any of them regularly but...Craig Ferguson & Conan are the funniest ones of the bunch. Jimmy Fallon gets really creative and seems to have a lot of celeb friends, same goes for Jimmy Kimmel, so both of their shows can be pretty entertaining. Chelsea Lately is funny, too.


Letterman and Leno seriously need to retire. Their humor is so outdated.

I've always liked Conan. Although, I think he has that type of personality where either you love his show or you hate his show.

I used to watch Johnny Carson and Letterman on NBC religiously. Then Johnny retired. And when Jay took over, he wasn't the same as when he was subbing for Johnny.
Then, Letterman moved to CBS, and I moved with him. And I have been watching David Letterman regularly since. And when I do not teach school (vacations and summers) I always stay up for Craig Ferguson! He is awesome...But then, he has to be, because like our Seth, Ferguson is Scottish!

I watch Chelsea Lately during the round table and that's it. I change the channel during the last interview segment. If I watch any other show it is the monologue only. All the guest on all the shows are just there to promote what they have going on at that time and I don't give a shit about them or their lives.

Conan is EXTREMELY corny. I've watched because of the guests that would be on, but he isn't funny at all. The voices he does... nope. Doesn't do it for me.

I also like to watch Graham Norton on BBC Canada, and Alan Carr on OUT TV.

I tend to catch John Stewart and Craig Ferguson as often as I can. But since there is an hour between the end of Stewart and the start of Ferguson, I end up watching Colbert and the first half of Conan.

The other late night shows I just don't find funny. Haven't seen any of the British late night shows though so I can't comment on them.

Letterman and Leno are pretty much equal in their old school and predictable "jokes" but tolerable and do decent interviews of their guests. Conan was always obnoxious and extremely boring to watch. I like Jimmy Kimmel's style but I get annoyed by super long commercials so I just give up in the middle and go to sleep.

I actually have been meaning to watch a full set of Ferguson and Kimmel, i'll only watch Letterman and Conan if I really, REALLY want to see the guests on it(I'm regretting not watching Conan when Zachary Quinto was on it, for instance)... I can't stand Leno even before the whole Conan fiasco, I don't find Russel Brand funny at all(and this is ironic because as far as Chelsea's stand-up is concerned, I find her abysmal... but I like her on her show), and i've never watched Fallon's show because I found him annoying on SNL, but, I want to give him a try...

Letterman is like a zombie. Has he had a stroke or something?

Graham Norton is outrageously puerile and Irish. He is another Jimmy Savile. He steals jokes and forces his guest to sit and/or slump on a painfully uncomfortable sofa.

All these shows are only as good as their guests. And how come the host always has a proper table to sit behind while the female guests have to show off their legs and short dresses for the camera to ogle on?
