Have you ever been black-out drunk?

I've never been black-out drunk before, and I have no intention to because it's obviously a really bad idea, but I'm curious to know what others' experiences with it have been. Do you "wake up" at certain points during the blackout, or do you just wake up in the drunk tank or in bed not remembering a thing?

well, i think that happened to me 2 years ago when i was passed out in the computer den and vomiting out all the ackee and saltfish, greens and banana and dimple that my mom made after i went to the club down in south orange. made my way to the floor, my head was spinning and about a couple of minutes, whoop there it is.

3 times and sadly they were all at my brother's place. As I have said, he brings out the absolute worst in me which is why our relationship is shaky at best.

Several times during my teenage years. While my pals were trying to score chicks, I found it easier to just drink myself stupid.

Once, apparently, some of my mates stripped off my clothing and left me lying there, totally out to it, in the middle of the party in just my undies. And everyone was talking about it at school on Monday. It was about then that I realised it wasn't a good idea and that I should probably just try and look like I was scoring some chicks myself.

Yes.. when I was a teenager I probably blacked out like 5 times. I was kinda wild back then. There's some nights where I still don't remember what happened. Sigh.. not fun.

Before stopping drinking entirely...my partner says that he had a black out drunk. And woke up with a black tongue....which scared the shit out of him. Until his room-mate told him that he's been drinking scotch and eating a whole bag of Oreos.....

Oh lord...yes. I sat in AA for almost a year terrified that I might tell the horror story (and eventually I did)..I was definitely not thrilled to be humble about it.

That was many years ago...and I have a string of blackouts under my belt which is why I have been clean and sober for 25+ years now..

The horror story...I was working behind the bar and one of the other bartenders yelled to me I had a phone call. That was irritating because I was really busy so I went to the phone with a bit of attitude because my friends knew better than to call me while I was working.

The guy on the other end was really happy to hear my voice...he said he waited patiently thinking about me every day until he could get back...I think he was from Minnesota or Michigan...and he said the week he spent with me was the best he ever had.

So I wanted to know who set him up to do that? Me and my friends did practical jokes sometimes and I was sure this was a practical joke. I slammed the phone on him after I said some smart ass crap and went on about the evening....

So this guy comes in the bar maybe an hour later...even busier...and I had no idea it was the guy on the phone but I was immediately attracted to him and felt there was something familiar about him....

...and so I bought him a drink and asked him what he was doing later. He replied "waiting for you". I was happy....until...he began to relive our week together. I was horrified because I slowly began to realize that he was telling the truth (and I was glad I was really good sex as he recounted the tale)...and I ran to one of my frenemy bartenders because although we love each other deep down I knew he would tell me the truth because a part of him hated me and I knew it would bring him great pleasure to tell me whatever bad news I didn't want to hear...

...and flat out...he told me I was a mess and I had blacked out...he remembered it well. I couldn't believe I would have been blacked ou6 for a week...OMG. F*U*C*K. He did enjoy telling me and I was glad to hear it...

I also OD'd on alcohol and had alcohol poisoning and had my stomach pumped for hours before they sent me to mandatory 72 hour psyche ward for observation as they took it as a suicide attempt...but it wasn't...I was just blacked out drunk. The nice lady at the pshche ward actually let me go.

Then there were these two other guys who I remember briefly going to their home and waking up (days later in one case) and the guy was acting like we were lovers. I still think they slipped me as roofie because I remember the weird feeling of becoming disoriented and in both situations wondered why I was with either one of them. It could have been me blacking out of course but I think my being drunk gave them the opportunity to slip me the roofie because with the guys I was with in a blackout...I was still attracted the them sober...not these two guys.

Sooooooooo...I do not drink. Blackouts are really scary because...at least for me...I literally have no recollection of anything that happened.

Glad to do it. One of the points of recovery is helping other people by being willing to openly share your personal experiences and they can hopefully take whatever they need from them...if anything.

I was EXTREMELY LUCKY most of this happened before AIDS existed. I would not be here if it had happened later. My Minnesota man was a revleation in 1985 which means I spent that week with him in 1984...people were already dying. After he told me what happened I became a dry drunk (versus a recovering alcoholic..that came later) because it scared the crap out of me.

I'm told I was at a Foghat concert back when they were around. No recollection of it, same with a supposed Black Sabbath concert I attended. I've also fallen down a few times. I NEVER stood on my hands on a keg tho....NEVER

I'd tell ya what happened, but I don't remember. According to the stories my friends told me, I had a REALLY good time though.

Every once in a great while I will still get these micro-flash-backs of faces, images, dancing dirty shirtless in the bar, or walking down the street in my underwear, or making out with someone in the bar.

I was kind of a lush back then, and drank for effect.

I have friends who get blackout drunk like 3-4 times a week. I don't get it. I drink almost every night for so many years but I can count the number of times I've blacked out in one hand. Once was because I was nervous and in a bad mood (lesson learned - luckily a friend drove me home to safety) and another time I did Bacardi 151 shots over and over.

Yes, I've blacked out a few times. I know some people can tell before they'll black out but I can't. I drink liquor and I'm bad at estimating when it will affect me. One time I drove my friend and I to go clubbing in West Hollywood. I didn't think I drank that much but I passed out after we were getting some food. She couldn't wake me up. There were some guys next to us that noticed and they gave us a ride. From what I'm told, they had to pick me up and put me in the car. Then they picked me up and put me on her couch. It's the weirdest feeling waking up and not knowing where you were or how you got there.

I saw that wine had less calories than beer.
I went to a Christmas party and drank the wine like it was beer.
The party started at 7:30pm and the shades started to go down around 9:00pm

I was at the party with the friend and the friend took my home at 1:00am
I asked the next day, "Why the hell did you not get me out of there?"
Her response was "I didn't know you were that drunk and you were funny as hell"
I had taken a Christmas ornament.
I was so worried that I had taken an ornament from the persons apartment.

I saw the person 2 days later and was a little bit mortified by admitting that I had taken the ornament.

The ornament was from a hallway display.

I swore off wine after that.
I could tell when I am getting drunk on beer, but not wine.

Oh all the time. It's fantastic. Yes, you may remember snippets, but never enough to get the whole picture.
The worst I ever did was have a fourway with two guys and a lipstick les... and have a threeway with two guys but I threw up on the one when he was giving me a blow job, so I am told.

It's impressive too because I'm not a light weight, I just drink that much. I strongly encourage it.

Just once, it was a fourth of July weekend, when I was 22, so about 20 years ago. I remember a friend calling asking if I wanted to go to fireworks, and then I woke up naked on his couch. I have no remembrance of anything that happened in between. I was told the two of us drank copious amounts of beer and 151 rum. Apparently I was naked because we attempted to go skinny dipping in the closed apartment pool. I really had no memory of any of it. I didn't even remember leaving my own house.

It wasn't long after that I quit drinking completely, for obvious reasons.

I've blacked out far too many times and I'm not proud about any of them. I didn't really start drinking heavily until I was 19, a late start compared to all my mates, and I tried to keep up with all of them who had well established "drinking bellies" at that stage. Drinking a bottle of vodka in under an hour is a nice way of ensuring you don't remember a night.

For me, these nights range from waking up in my room with about 15 of my mates still up drinking while last I remember was the nightclub. That, I didn't mind so much. Being at a session one minute and waking up on the couch to my ma screaming at me the next minute, after being brought home by the Gards (police) for being out of the head around the town at four in the morning. That wasn't one of my finer moments but it taught me a valuable life lesson about mixing drink and other substances. Suffice to say if I go out drinking now, I have my few pints, I get merry and I let other people get messy drunk and enjoy ripping the piss out of them for it the next day!

To answer your question though, from someone who's blacked out more than a few times, there's only been two instances where I have very, very little memory (the two previously mentioned occasions) of anything that occured and literally woke up not knowing where I was or what had happened. The other times, your memory can be twigged by something someone says and shit like that. You can kind of piece together a night.

In anyways, I've learned my lesson when it comes to the drink: go out and spend €40 - €50 (enough to have me quite drunk, but a nice happy drunk I'll remember) and laugh at the ones who spend €100 - €150 a night (not an exaggeration), make a show out of themselves and remember nothing.

When I drank I drank......many times a 5th or quart of vodka in an evening so, YES, I got fucking hammered.
I don't ever remember passing out and unfortunately, after a period of time, remembered everything I had done.
There are many things I wish I didn't remember but what's done was done. (Still made for a convenient excuse though)
I quit when I was 27 years old and am 61 now.
There's not enough money on the planet to get me to drink again.

Only once in my twenties at a friend's house party. Scared me so much I didn't drink for about five or six years afterwards. Now if I go out to imbibe, it's usually about two or rarely, three drinks and I often nurse them, and I'm done.

That said, I sometimes have a bit more (always cider) if I'm visiting a friend here in the low rise but even then it's usually only about two or three before I say enough, even when he insists I have more.

I've blacked out several times from drinking. The last time was probably 10 years ago. Blacking out was an annoyance, what really sucks is when you drink yourself sober. I've done it on rum a couple times and once on everclear. My Mom, who was an emergency room nurse for 22 years, FREAKED OUT when she heard, and I spent years hearing about the people she saw die from alcohol poisoning. Now a days I drink rarely....I prefer to smoke a little weed.

I used to black out quite frequently. I usually managed to do it with a certain amount of style, so that it looked like I'd simply fallen asleep. But many times I was up and moving and talking and doing things that I never remembered afterward. One time I started speaking French (though I'd never learned much beyond "j'ai dans ma valise..."). Another time I told my sister all sorts of interesting things about our family that she didn't know... and neither did I. I sometimes wonder if I was being possessed by other entities at those times.

Sometimes I would come around during the blackout, and would later remember some incident or location; but for the most part, the whole episode passed without my conscious knowledge, and I'd wake up in strange places with no memory of how I'd got there.

And drinking to black out is not a laughing matter... it's incredibly dangerous. If you find yourself in blackouts more than once a year, you should consider getting help.

Three years ago, at University. It was my first year so I was drinking a lot with a few friends! Got wasted, blacked out in the carpark of my campus, fortunately friends found me before they could hit me, came to my rescue, put me to bed. Of course I chundered everywhere on my bed and wall and clothes. Needless to say I didn't remember anything except for the fact that my leg was so numbed I couldn't even stand up.

Sometimes I would black out after a night of intense drinking. Woke up not knowing anything and friends had to fill me in on the crazy shit I did that night! LOL

Yeah Tequila - really sick too just before blacking out. Haven't touched the stuff since. Or blacked out since. But the day after was very colourful kinda like a flashback...
