So I'm getting my personal stuff in order for December 21st and I just realised that Australia will get to the 21st before America. Does that mean Australia blows up earlier than America or does that mean we get an extra day and our world won't end until December 22nd?

13 baktuns = 13*144,000 = 1,872,000 days from -3113. So (1 year = 365.242 days in they system) = 5125.37 years
5125.37-3113 gives ... 2012 !

Because horror movies are all about the "other", which means that whatever the majority finds alien is the boogie-man in the story.

On the flip side of that, the "other" also gets credited with all sorts of things the majority lacks and/or needs; I've read many a story where the native Americans are the source the hero has to go to in order to learn or gain what is needed to achieve victory.
