I preferred the "supporter" bit - it said what it was. "VIP" suggests "your importance is directly proportional to what you pay us." But then again, maybe that's just as honest.

Actually, now that I think about it, how many times do some of us have VIP associated with our name, even though it's just a user name. In that respect, it's kind of cool.

Due to the number of times that members have been duped by people posting images they've found elsewhere and then passing them off as themselves, becoming a 'Verified User' is simply a way of saying 'I am who I say I am'. At the moment you're a JUB VIP because you financially support the operation of the site (in theatre, you'd be an 'Angel' )As for the other, I know exactly what you're saying - and I can see how it might look like the beginning of a tiered membership system, but the Supporter/VIP change was done independently from the Verified User. The first I knew about the VIP change was when I saw it, but as I say, the Verified User was a Mod decision.

The VIP thing is obnoxious, mostly because the text is so large. Besides that, how does just paying some money make someone a "VIP"? That cheapens the meaning of the term. It should go back to being "JUB Supporter", and if a "JUB VIP" status is wanted, set condition for it -- like a minimum number of posts, number of threads started, number of forums participated in, and such, because those are the things that make a forum run/work.

I suggest a thousand posts, five dozen threads, and five forums. Oh, and you have to be a JUB Supporter, too.

Yeah -- and the threads have to get at least a dozen responses.
