http://news.yahoo.com/ex-fla-gov-cha...095012968.htmlTALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who was elected the state's chief executive as a Republican and then ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate as an independent, announced on Twitter on Friday night that he's switching to the Democratic Party. ....
Crist sent out a tweet that said, "Proud and honoured to join the Democratic Party in the home of President (at)Barack Obama!"
Speculation is that he will seek to reclaim the Governorship in 2014.

Opportunism often does go both ways....one time Democratic Texas governor John Connally became a Republican, a lot of the southern conservative Democrats did from the late 60's through Reagan's terms of office. The late Arlen Specter started out a Democrat, spent most of his Washington career as a moderate Republican, then returned back to the Democrats when he felt it his only avenue to returning to the Senate (which failed anyway).
