Which do you wear out first: pants, or pockets?

I got to wondering about this because I now have three pairs of pants sitting in a pile to have pockets either repaired or replaced, but I don't have any ready to be thrown out. Are pockets so weak now -- did they used to be stronger or tougher? or what?

In my younger days, the pants got worn out.*pulling off and on*
Now that I am a little bit older, the pockets wear out.

I never seem to wear out pockets ... I use these bank money bags for my pocket change though, and cash is really the only thing that I usually have in my trouser pockets.

Maybe I'm searching in my pockets too much. When I go out to my new conservation project I have tools galore that go in, and I don't always remember which went in which pocket.

Or it may be that I'm carrying too many tools in the first place?

Still, I think pockets today are flimsier -- I used to wear out heavy-duty denims ten times as fast as I wore out pockets.

My jeans always rip in the exact same place; the left upper inner thigh right in front of the inner seam. It's bizarre how specific it is, but I've had four jeans tear in that exact same spot.

Don't know...usually the pockets wear out a few days before I tear my jeans. It's really hard to tell whether it's coincidental or not.

Omg I have the same thing with glasses. Only the left side will experience scratches and the right is complete scratch-free. And it's so difficult to explain to the optometrist.

It just one of things that will happen to you when you are cursed bitch.

I carry keys, coins, wallet, mobile (cell) phone etc in my pockets, so they always wear out before the pants fabric. I have several pairs of pants whose pockets are expertly fixed using gaffer tape.

I think you JUST answered the weird question I've had for years..."WHY DO MY JEANS ALWAYS WEAR OUT ON THE LEFT KNEE?" Well, when I cross my legs, it's always the right on top of the left. (So, OK then, why doesn't the RIGHT pants leg wear out BEHIND that knee?)

When I was younger it was always pockets that I was wearing out - now it's almost always the pants themselves that go first.

I think that's because about half of my life, now, I've been wearing jeans and almost nothing else for pants (ever). I think jeans pockets are made a lot better. In dress pants or casual pants it was always the pockets that wear out.

The worst luck I ever had with pockets was the one time I needed to get a brand new pair of dress slacks, and the pocket wore out after probably no more than four days of use.

I have much better luck with thrift shop stuff.
