Online criminal record / background check websites

I was thinking of signing up for an account on http://www.unitedstatesbackgroundchecks.com/faqs/

Does anyone know if these types of sites are legit or is it just a scam? Because it isn't free. Does anyone have any experience with this type of thing? It's just surprising to me that anyone would be able to access things like this so I don't know if it's just a scam.

Scam. If someone is in jail, it shows up for free in that counties' database. Why you'd need to know someone's full history unless you're an employer is beyond me.

Better yet.......look for them on facebook.
It seems about 1% know what things to keep to themselves.......

It might tell you IF you had a police record.

The police might make a record if they caution you about something even if they can't charge you with a crime.

That record might affect some potential employers.

i wouldnt pay for it, because like khoas said, you can just look people up by county database for free, alot of sites are scams, so be careful, maybe you could ask your employer what company they use.

All the sites seem designed to trap/ trick you into signing for a monthly fee. I would like to find one which sells you one search without a commitment.
