I'd be happy in San Diego as well, I think. I enjoyed the brief period I spent there, more so than LA or DC or Denver. SD vs New York City, though... a difficult decision.
Wherever it is, it will not be a small town - enough stuff passes us by here in the 3rd World to have me move to a tiny 1st-world town and still have it pass me by, thanks - and will hopefully be on the coast somewhere. Was born in a small town, was glad to have moved to a pretty big, and then another really big, city as I grew up.

I have been told many times, and can atest to but only by the limited time I have spent there, that Cape Town has the same climate as San Diego. I'm not sure about this but have heard it many times throughout my travels. If I had to pick somewhere else it would be Barcelona. I'll probably spend time there in Feb. and Mar.

I'm really happy where I live right now, but I wouldn't mind living in California or maybe New York City.

Likewise with BCN, I'm told.

I am fine with any where's that's cold or at least have ice. I like Japan a lot. But the earthquakes there kinda scares me. I like London but my sister complained so much about it and two of her friends who lived there for three years couldn't stand it anymore and just came back last month even though they still had a valid one year visa. My dream country would be Iceland though

I fell in love with London as a teenager. You do need a backbone to live here sometimes but the rewards are amazing.
The only other city in the world which would tempt me away would be Rio de Janeiro. Maybe Paris.

If I didn't need to worry about a job? Rome, Capri, north shore of Kaua'i.
