When I'm reading a "light" read, like a magazine or a newspaper I can read at a rate of 600 words per minute. When I'm reading my textbook, it's much slower. What about you?

don't know. i do know that i'm a lazy reader and have a hard time focusing where i find myself getting irritated and even falling asleep during reading.
btw, how were you able to find out your reading speed?
one thing about the closet/you don't have to hurry/it will be bad tomorrow/so brother, don't you worry![]()
Too fast. I tend to devour books. I got through that two-volume set of Sherlock Holmes in a couple weeks.

It very much depends. I have never counted the words by minute. When I must read a newspaper or texts to have an understanding of it, I read very fast, stopping only for keywords, in a 'diagonal' way, maybe in the order of less than 10sec/page. If it's to read a complicated book or to be sure to have it committed to memory it's obviously slower.
There are various techniques to be taught for quick reading.
Sorry it's wiki : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_reading

I'll read a 300-400 page book in a day.
I have never clocked myself but everyone has already hit it... if I am reading for deeper comprehension or pleasure then much slower... if I am reading data typically I am scanning looking for patterns.

I think the best I clocked for completing a novel was a 250pg one in about 3.5 hours. It was very light reading (teenage level) but still pleasurable. Many times when I read more complicated books with dense plots, I'll stop and think back to previous events in the book to get a frame of reference before I continue.

I think I used read an Agatha Christie in about 3 hours. Some books go faster. Then there was a Gore Vidal that took me a year to read.
I am working on what form my JUB reincarnation will take...

Depends on what I'm reading, If you give me a historical fiction book--set in the 17-1800s--then I can have it done with in a matter of days if not hours. Now if its something for school, or something I'm uninterested in, good luck getting me to finish it, I will struggle and get distracted like no one's business.
Much to my mom's dismay, I don't like reading.
I would rather have it played out in front of me: tv, movie, porn
100 pages in a sci-fi/fantasy novel takes me about 3 hours.
It depends on what I'm reading. I've never really measured my speed per page or book, but Kobo stats say I polish off about 85.4 pages an hour; which I don't know if that is slow or fast or somewhere in the middle.
I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, but I'm afraid my walk has become rather sillier recently...
Slower than I used to read....I'm sure.
But probably around the 500 - 600 wpm.
No idea, but I read any A song of ice and fire book in less than a week. And I can win most quizgames because I usually have read the question and all possible answers before most people have read the question![]()

I don't know my word count since I read in word clusters (reading several words at the same time, fragmenting a sentence into several parts necessary and digestible), but I read fairly fast. The fastest I got was devouring the whole Salem's Lot in 5 hours.
However, I tend to get bored rather quickly, my mood affects my reading speed significantly, and I usually slow down for 'heavy' material...so you get it.
