I bet there's something you absolutely do not want to get as a Christmas present. And you know in your bones someone's going to give it to you, someone whose feelings mustn't be hurt, so you're practising a squeal of delight for when you open the parcel.

I have two of those. Footie pajamas, actually.

I've gotten two specifically bad presents in the last decade or two. My aunt got me a ceramic popcorn bowl (it had "popcorn" written on the side) which was tiny - it may have held fifty kernels. And my brother bought me a book called "How to Choose Your Next Career". I'm actually happy with my work, but he's not.

Over the years we have received some amazing stuff from desperate gift givers.

To solve the problem for everyone this year and forward, we are having them donate to our selected charity. And we are doing the same instead of gifts for each of them. The combined family and freinds gift should be large enough to really make a difference for a number of organizations these days.

There is nothing worse than feeling like someone has wasted their money on you getting you something you can't use or appreciate.

Anything my sister will get me. She has a history of buying the most bizarre nick-knacks, even tho she knows I don't display them. One such item was a trophy fish plaque. The fish was painted like a NASCAR race car.
