I really, really loved Prometheus. Yes, there were some issues with the plot but overall I thought it was truly great. Beautiful sci-fi film. It's probably my favorite this year.

Others I enjoyed were Bernie, Moonrise Kingdom, Silver Linings Playbook, The Avengers, Cloud Atlas and End of Watch.

The movie I was most disappointed with was The Dark Knight Rises. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. And I thought I was really going to love it.

The worst film of the year? The Apparition. Just awful.

probably my favorite film of the the year was moonrise kingdom.

i don't necessarily have a top ten but here's some other films i enjoyed immensely: Prometheus, frankenweenie, cabin in the woods, paranorman, the avengers, the dark knight rises, ted, wreck-it ralph, sinister. well i guess they are ten lmao, but they're not in any particular order.

I watched a lot of movies in theaters this year. For me these ones I really enjoyed.

    Paranorman
    Wreak It Ralph
    Ted
    The Hobbit

All the other movies I saw weren't so great.

Have to go with The Hobbit. I was expecting the worst amidst all the harsh reviews. It turns out I saw an entirely different movie than all those critics. To me it was every bit as good as Jackson's prior work with LotR.

Still have yet to see Zero Dark Thirty which is getting nothing but rave reviews. But now that I know I cannot rely on a consensus of critic's reviews, that doesn't really mean anything until I see for myself.

It has to be the Hobbit for me too, I've seen it twice already. The first time I saw it I was trying to find all the differences between the movie and the book but the second time I just enjoyed it for what it was and thought it was amazing!

There are many that are on my to-watch list just from this year -.-

I've only seen two from this year that I enjoyed.

Pitch Perfect could've been way better, but I found myself enjoying it. And I just saw Les Mis. I have to say I enjoyed it more than going to the show. I'm not saying the show was bad. I love shows because they're live. The movie just seemed to be more intimate. A bunch of times I actually found myself almost on the verge of crying.

Oh yeah..and I forgot about the Hungry Games. I liked it.

From what I've seen so far, these stood out to me the most:

    Django UnChained
    Looper
    Paranorman
    Chronicle
    Skyfall
    Prometheus
    Cabin in the Woods
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
    Beasts of the Southern Wild

Out of the ones I haven't seen, I'm most curious about:

    The Master
    Zero Dark Thirty

    Didn't really get:

    The Dark Knight Rises

^ Why was it so boring and convoluted? People keep telling me to rewatch it so I'll "get it." Mkay. lol

I've not seen that many but the ones that stick out are:

    The Avengers
    Ted
    The Campaign
Django Unchanined - which I went to see last night. Was funny and brutal...it was Tarantino. I would watch it again and Sam Jackson stole the show even though I enjoyed the whole cast.

Re: 10 Best Films of 2012

    My personal top 5

    1.Paranorman
(Spoiler) Very happy to finally have the first out gay character in a major full feature animated movie. Really ground breaking. Thank you LAIKA. We can only hope studios like PIXAR would follow suit soon. (End of spoiler) As a big fan of their previous film Coraline, they did not disappoint this time either. Am not really a horror fan in general but still had a lot of fun watching it. Thinking about buying that book "The Art and Making of ParaNorman" as well. I hope this win best animated feature oscar.

    2.Wreak It Ralph
Saw it FIVE times in theatre so far. That`s how much I love it. Orginally only went to show some support for Jane Lynch & Sarah Silverman. Ended up absolutely adored it. If Paranorman didn`t win the oscar this would be my second choice.

3.The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
Not what I thought it would be. Only went because heard there was a major gay character and am somewhat found of Emma Watson. Ended up a fan of both Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller. Wow. If there`s any justice in the world they would become big stars soon. Also really nice to see a few TV actors I liked in it, like Kate Walsh, Dylan McDermott & Nina Dobrev. Plus two former Scott Pilgrim actors as well.

    4.Cloud Atlas
Having read the book I couldn`t imagine a movie version being done. To my surprise Tom Tykwer & The Wachowskis really delivered. They made some changes to the "gay" part of the story which I personally prefer to the book version. Really wished they had cast at least one asian male actor, but still, a very diverse cast with TWO asian actresses who are both very well known and respected in their own countries. Heard there was a longer cut and hopefully they will put more material in the DVD/Bluray.

    5.Life of Pi
Crouching Tiger and Brokeback Mountain will always have a special place in my heart, but Life of Pi is simply Ang Lee`s best work. Truly a masterpiece in every way. I`ve seen it twice in theatre so far and looking forward to go back again soon. Will get this on Bluray as soon as it`s available. Looking forward to listen to Ang Lee`s commentary on it.
