    Free to good home

Sweet Jesus it's only the first day of Summer in Sydney and it's already too freakin' hot. It's currently 38 degrees - no idea what that is in Fahrenheit - and the humidity is at 80% in my area.

If this is an indication of what Summer is going to be this year, I'm giving it away. Who wants it.

At this point I'd happily pay someone $100 bucks to fan me with palm fronds and drop ice cubes down my shirt.

Ooo, can we swap places for six months? It's starting to get pretty chilly here in Colorado.

And that was my drag name. Freida Goodhome.

I was dripping on my keyboard yesterday.

RS, you could try climbing that fantastic hillside where you live. I reckon when you're out in nature everything seems right. I'm going to the beach later.

The only reason I'd climb anything today Pat is if I was guaranteed a fuck under an icy cold waterfall. Otherwise I'm going to sit here wilting and being a complaining turd lol.

ooh, we have some of those up on Wolf Creek Pass!

...it might look like this now, though.

I'll swap you some of our cold. We should average out at about 18C. Last night's low was -1C. Today's high was -3C. (Yes, it got colder throughout the day.)

I'm all for sweating for the right reasons Lex, breathing is not the right reason for the sweatathon I'm enduring today.

It was about 38C in Melbourne the other day too. I was sprawled out uncovered and completely naked in bed and it was still too hot to sleep. I can't stand this place in Summer.

Wherever you go raven, please take me with you.

It's not unusual. It was already cold, and then a cold front went through. We have a warm front coming, though. The forecast for Sunday is 11C. Downright balmy.

Bah! At least you have a summer ... I live in England we don't have summer ... I think they abolished it long before I was born.

Sounds like me right now Anders, although I'm not naked I've got underwear on and a wet cloth over my chest so the cool breeze from the fan hits it.

    Let's run away somewhere cooler.

The older I get the more I think I crave the Summers of my Irish and Scottish grandparents. I'll happily swap you.

If it helps, I have no idea what that is in Fahrenheit either, but I know it's fucking hot. About as hot as I've ever experienced in Canada.

I'd send you ice cubes if you want; we had an unseasonably early start to winter, and it's -14 right now.

Oh, hey, shouldn't summer be starting on Dec 21 for you guys?

Are Australian summers dry or humid? I suppose it makes a lot of difference where you are. At least that is the case in Canada. The humidity is the killer when trying to sleep…and your cities are mostly near the coast...

I'm not sure what the exact number is, but I think it's a little over 100F (I'm too lazy to Google a converter). It's not hugely uncommon to have days that hot during Summer down here, but I doubt we'd ever get anything under 5C during Winter. I envy that about Canada, as I've always wanted to experience snow.

I think the highest temperature I've had to endure happened during a heatwave a few years ago. There was at least a week straight of temperatures exceeding 40C, and I think it maxed out at 48C. Unbearable doesn't even begin to describe it.

As for humidity, I think I heard the weather report say 83% for today. It's not nearly as hot as it was the other day, but still pretty uncomfortable. I'd much rather be shoveling snow, I have a very low tolerance and tend to wilt in the heat.

That isn't necessarily the cause of humidity. Where you and I live, far from any coastline, our humidity comes up through the United States from the Gulf of Mexico.

    I would take 38C today.

I already hate winter and it hasn't even started.
