So about 2.5 years ago I got a 9 to 5 job, and my nightlife basically disappeared totally.
I do not think I was at a bar once after I took the job. Maybe once or so, not sure if I remember it, but basically I really stopped going.
Beforehand I went every so often. Some things have changed as well, since that time. Like first, I realized that if I want to hook up, I don't have to go to a bar and my most fun experiences are from Craigslist or other sites. Hooking up at a bar is ... usually just that simple oral or making out fun, which is okay .. but if I wanted more fun stuff like Dom/sub, or kink, chances that I'd get it in the typical bar were slim.
Another thing is I was hosting a party weekly that took care of my "hanging out with the people" needs. This week I did not host a party, so I wanted to try going to a bar because I just wanted to dance to some hopefully good music. Basically the idea crashed.
I usually go to bed by 10:30pm to be in a good shape for work. I used to go at 11pm, which usually made me come late to work, as I take a bit to get ready. Most bars in my area just start happening around 11pm, so that's why I cannot go to them on a regular basis.
I ended up taking a nap at 8pm till 10pm with alarm. It did not work, I wanted more sleep. I managed to open my eyes around 10:30, but not in a condition where I would happily skip to a bar. By the time I figured I could actually go it was 12pm, then 1am, and then I just figured that driving 30min to the bar I wanted to visit would not work. But I stayed up till 5am, as I had nothing better to do, and didn't want to sleep. Bar closes at 2am here. Finally, I forced myself to go to bed.
Woke up today not entirely happy with myself, due to alternating my sleep schedule and not feeling so great. No bar, no sleep, hating myself, that's that.
And here I am now wondering how to have a nightlife when one has a 9-5 job, while trying to still keep my sleep. Have you done it or just abandoned it like I have?
