What is the wierdest "wrong number" phone call you've ever received?

Recently I got phone call from this woman asking whether her ultrasounds have arrived or not and that she needed it urgently. What weird phone calls have you received in the past and present?

Omg, how am I supposed to know that?

For a long time, I kept getting everything from old friends to bill collectors and a damn lawyer calling my phone, asking for Amanda. Apparently this woman was both very popular and dodging her bills like a damn ninja - I finally got sick of it and explained to the very thickheaded lawyer that my name has never been Amanda and that she probably changed her number to avoid... you. That stopped ALL the calls.

The weirdest though, was this sweet old lady that called my number by mistake... only to call me 6 more times within that hour. To talk. I guess she felt she made a new friend.

I used to work customer service for New York Waterway, the company who runs ferries in NYC.

one time, I got a call from a lady looking for New York Waterworks... this lady was hysterical because the water company was threatening to turn off her water for unpaid bills. I tried really hard to explain that she had the wrong number, and even googled the correct number for her to call, but she just wasn't hearing it. she wouldn't stop yelling and crying, so eventually I was just like "ok, we won't turn your water off today" and she hung up.

Not a phone call, but a letter from a funeral home asking the guy who used to own the house, for money to carry-on looking after his wife's remains.
I had no idea where to forward the letter, so i just binned it.

    This Chinese (I think) woman.

    Me: Hello?
Her (in a flat monotone): Hello.
    Me: ...hello?
    Her: Hello.
Me (after a long pause): Yes, hello?
Her: Hello hello hello. (hangs up)

Doesn't sound too weird, but my family got this call roughly once a month for something like seven years.

When I was in junior high, there was this girl calling my house, asking to talk to a trending teenage girl singer. There was always a call every week and the caller as well as the pattern of speed was ALWAYS the same.

    Me(/Sis/Bro/Dad/Mom): Hello?
Her: Good afternoon, may I speak with (the singer's name)?
    Me: Sorry, wrong number.
    Her: Oh, thank you.

The last time she called (4 years later), I decided to improvise.
    Me: Hello?
Her: Good afternoon, may I speak with (the singer's name)?
Me: (lowering my voice register) She's speaking.
    Her: (confused) You're a man.
Me: (in the highest pitch possible) Because I like to wear skirts.

She hanged up and never called again.

One morning I got a call asking why "Sandy" wasn't at work; I explained that she probably was. I asked if she'd phoned Sandy's house; the lady replied that she had with no answer. After we spent some time discussing where Sandy could be we realized that we were talking about different Sandys.

I once got a after midnight call from a rather verbally offensively woman claiming she knew her boyfriend was hanging out at my house with some bimbo. I said I was asleep and there was nobody of that name here, but she wouldn't have it. I put her on hold and then pulled the plug out of my phone socket and went back to bed.

Oh, I remember a good one

About a year ago, I was called three times by someone rude. When I picked up, he immediately asked whether I remembered him in an intimidating voice (which I didn't know let alone remember). I claimed I didn't know but he refuted, saying I pretended. I finally got annoyed and harked at him. Turned out he was a debt collector and the one he ought to tend had the same first name as mine --'

For a moment I thought I was going to lose a limb or a kidney.

I don't recall the context - just that I once hung up on a wrong number after he started arguing with me. He called me back and immediately ripped into me.

HIM: What the fuck you hang up on me for, ya faggot?
ME (apologetic): I'm really sorry. That was just practice.
HIM (confused, but less angry): Practice? Practice for what?
    ME: This. (Hang up)

Something similar to this. A guy kept harassing me thinking I was cheating with his girlfriend, he kept calling saying things like 'WHERE IS SHE?!??!" and hanging up. He wouldn't listen to my explanation that he had the wrong number. Finally I had my dad explain in a tough manner and the calls seized immediately.

It was a message on my answering machine and it was a girl speaking in Haitian and it was rambling and she was upset and she mixed some English in there too. I saved it but it was in the old days with an old machine and I lost it.

I got a new phone and it was before they allowed you to transfer the number. I got a call from a NY number and answered. It was this elderly lady and she started talking like we were friends. I said excuse me but I think you have the wrong number. She apologized and hung up. Immediately she called back so I politely told her she had the wrong number. She called back and I sent the call to voice mail. She left this rambling message for someone called "sister Sherry." The next day she called back and we did the same back and forth. I felt bad because she was elderly and I didn't want to be rude but it really got to be a problem. She was calling three times a day and I got tired of telling her "sister Sherry" didn't have this number any longer. Sometimes I'd answer but most of the time I just sent it to voice mail and then deleted it. She kept calling and calling. I called my provider and asked if I could have her number blocked and they said they could block texts but not calls. It didn't make sense to me but whatever. This went on for months. A few times I answered and we had a conversation. I knew her name. I knew her childrens names. lol It became very obvious "sister Sherry" changer her number to get away from this woman. I finally talked to her son and asked him if he could talk to her and help her understand she needed to stop calling me. Thankfully that did the trick. I havent heard from her for about a year. Knocking on wood.

Once in the 70's I answered the phone and a guy asks me to put Mom on. I recognized the voice as belonging to a handsome professor with a deep, distinctive, sexy voice and accent, who taught an extension sociology course that aired early mornings on a local TV station. No matter how many times I told him he must have gotten the wrong number, he kept telling me to quit fooling around and put Mom on the phone. I think the call ended without him ever believing that i wasn't his brother.

I posted this in an other thread:
I got a call from a young women offering delivery of a free introductory pizza. I told her I didn't like pizza. After expressing surprised
disbelief, she paused, then said she would like to date me. I just got exasperated and hung up

It wasn't much of a call. A guy called me and he left me a message to call him back. It was apparently very urgent. I never called him back, because it was a private number. He left another message, and same thing happened then.

Got a call from Abidjan once and no it wasn't spam but caller was speaking French. I had no idea and man that is so random. What's the chance of getting a wrong number call from Abidjan? 1 in a billion?
