Wolffe: GOP Going On Witch Hunt Against "People Of Color" In Obama Cabinet

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/vid...a_cabinet.html

Jump link with a video above

I think now that John McCain has sunk his teeth in, he's made it about presidential authority, and, frankly, it's outrageous that there is this witch hunt going on the right about these people of color, let's face it, around this president. Eric Holder, Valerie Jarrett, now Susan Rice. Before it was Van Jones.
Well I have to tell you, it's what a vast majority of people now think. Listen to the video and tell me what you think.

Wolffe states that it can't be about policy, because she agrees with him on all the important issues.

Why do the Republicans only go after the darker skinned members of the Obama Cabinet ?

Re: Wolffe: GOP Going On Witch Hunt Against "People Of Color" In Obama Cabinet

I can't watch the video over my slow connection, so I can't comment on that, specifically.

But, I have noticed the propensity of Republicans to go after people of color in this administration (not excluding the president, of course). I have been reluctant to comment on it, since it raises lots of emotion. Republicans don't generally see their racism as being "genuine" racism. The logic seems to be that it is okay to attack people who are not straight, white, male, rich, and evangelical Protestant, since such people really are inferior examples of humanity. How can it be racism when the people you are attacking are so truly despicable?

It is sad to see in 2012, but it is consistent with the modern history of Republicanism, which has traditionally opposed civil rights (and indeed, rights for all minority groups) as a matter of policy.

do you really think there are absolutely no legitimate criticisms of Susan Rice as a candidate for Secretary of State outside of her skin color, or are you just playing the race card?

Van Jones resigned after he made statements alleging that GWB deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen.
Valerie Jarrett, Eric Holder, and Susan Rice are all in high-profile positions that have always been subject to high scrutiny.

I don't think any of that is related to their race any more so than I'd accuse Democrats of being racist for attacking Alberto Gonzalez.

The repuggers are merely reacting to that horrendously stinging loss they had at the polls. They are trying to make the whole Susan Rice deal into a tom clancy novel. Susan Rice didn't lie. It's already been proven. And she is an accomplished diplomat who has a long line of accomplishments... republicans hate that about people. Republicans prefer horse track owners and idiots in charge of things.

Republicans prefer completely unqualified morons in charge. It explains their eight years of constant screw-ups. Oh and the qualified people that happened to be in that administration were often silenced, quit or were fired.

    Of course not.

But, the tendency of the GOP to go after non-traditional Americans is notable, as is the remarkable vehemence with which such people come under attack. Especially when the "offences" prompting these savage attacks are typically more contrived than real. It is not the usual human behavior, nor is it even the usual politic. One senses a real hatred here.

It is just my own gut feeling, but I suspect that the real objection by the GOP to these people is not so much that they have come to occupy the positions of authority that they have, but that they have been successful in doing so. The objection that I sense is that this administration is proving some deeply-seated Republican prejudices to be too obviously false to ignore. Republicans seem to be desperate to create the impression of failure, even where no failure has occurred. It is important for them to preserve their world view.

Whenever you shake up deeply-felt beliefs, it stirs up a hornet's nest of anger in a people.

You're playing the race card. Bush had many minorities in his cabinet. It's just that liberals don't accept people of color if they are conservative or republican.

Ah yes, the token people as they call them... he had many minorities in his comment lol? Did you forget to mention that many of them quit? We don't accept people of color if they are conservative or republican? Of course we do. Colin Powell is one... Powell is a republican but he had enough sense to endorse the right man for the job.

Must be feeling bad that Mia Love and Allen West lost lol... two delusional nuts. Mia Love... ridiculous... betrayed her Haitian roots to become a Mormon.

Lets see was Ashcroft attacked in the Bush admin?

Was Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice?

Was Steven Hadley and Karl Rove attacked?

I cant help but think the same people in the same high profile positions are being attacked... I am firmly of the belief that the republican party embraces racism and does not squash it as part of their base but i do not for one minute think this is a case of Racism...

    BINGO!!!

Thanks for making my point GiancarloC.

Why can't liberals accept minorities who chose to be conservatives or republicans?

How did Mia Love betray her roots? We all have a mind and make our own decisions.

I fully accept Colin Powell and appreciate his support for the centrist in the White House right now.

So how was I making your silly point?

I have no idea what you mean by "playing the race card." When people commit racist acts, and I point it out, is that "playing the race card?"

GWB started a war on the basis of what he later claimed were failures of his CIA. It cost America $1 Trillion and 100,000 (mostly innocent) people died. In most of the world, that would be cause to bring charges of treason, and would buy you a date with the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.

Susan Rice conveyed to America some CIA talking points on television. Not one person died because of her actions. No war was started. It didn't cost America a dime.

You Republicans are enraged that Rice somehow failed to personally verify what an entire agency of the US government had done before she spoke. But, it does not matter to you that GWB failed to verity his CIA report before he started a war costing $1 Trillion and 100,000 lives.

The difference between those two events is the difference between a five alarm fire and a matchstick. Yet, you Republicans turn the fire hoses on the match stick. The Bush conflagration was perfectly understandable. It wasn't the fault of the guy in charge - it was the failure of his subordinates. And the fire wasn't really a mistake, anyway. That ugly building (i.e., country) really needed to burn down, anyway. So the whole debacle was actually kinda good. Too bad that so many innocent people died, but it just couldn't be helped. No harm, no foul.

How is this possible? Objectively speaking, how can the inconsequential event enrage you Republicans, while the crime against humanity matters not the least? Could it be because the five alarm fire was started by a rich white guy who couldn't possibly have made a mistake - because he looks and thinks and acts too much like you? Because he has a Christian angel on his shoulder, guiding his noble Caucasian being?

One of the striking features of racism is that its perpetrators never understand that they are being racist. It's okay to keep black people as slaves, because Jesus said so in the Bible. How can you question that? How can a slave holder be a racist, when he is only carrying out the will of God? Don't be ridiculous.

That is why it is so difficult to communicate with you Republicans. You will never appreciate that the five alarm fire is truly a bigger problem than the matchstick. And every time someone points this out to you, you will insist that it is not true, it is just "playing the race card." Because you are not a racist. It just happens that strange people are so consistently wrong about things, and rich white Republican males are so consistently right.

That's a bit like saying Thomas Jefferson was not a racist, because he had sex with a slave, and he had many slaves doing important work for him at Monticello.

Just because Bush appointed minorities to do work for him does not mean the Republican Party has somehow achieved enlightenment.

Why should any of us accept the conservative point of views some people spew? Mia Love and Allen West are two repulsive people... especially Allen West. Good riddance he's been voted out out of office.

So you think McCain is a liberal?

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

    Good point!

Am I the only American who's tired of individuals screaming "race" as a means to shut off or diminish a real discussion?

Can't you accept disagreeing with a person as just disagreeing with a person.
If I didn't remain friends with people that I vehemently disagreed with, then I'd never personally learn anything.

Why not just accept the person as a person.
You used a "." instead of a "? mark" which indicated to me that you're making a statement instead of asking a question.

That opens up a plethora of conjecture.
