Buzzer, you'll have to grow a pair!
"You may only be one person to the world, but you may also be the world to one person"
- anonymous quote.
I can see why you'd think that, honestly. But my investigations began with a hint from another JUBber, really. He said something like,"Now we have his real name, why can't somebody look into it?" And of course, like a rabbit seeing a carrot dangling off a stick, off I went, chasing it.
The trouble with the whole Andreus saga lies in the fact that he deceived us all for his own selfish needs, Jay Hawk. I have a great deal of trouble dealing with lies and deception. Why does someone need to lie about their identity, when the truth is usually more interesting, anyway?
I still don't get the idea that I was harmed by Andreus. But I don't take things too terribly personally on here. I get angry occasionally at shitty allegations of character but rarely does that carry into my physical life. It just plays into the argument or discussion on here. I interacted with a entity that claimed certain things. I didn't alter my perception of him because he was Muslim or struggling with HIV. I simply engaged whatever the topic was and moved on. Probably the biggest concept that makes sense to me is Bradlee's reasoning. Bradlee says it was horrible to find out so many were fake because he was so open and under the impression everyone else was as well. I can understand that feeling of betrayal. It also firmly plants my method of interaction on JUB.
People are not real to me till they are real to me. They aren't on any other forum and they aren't here. That doesn't mean I disrespect them but I refuse to allow an online opinion affect my life. To allow an emotional involvement. You know the other side of this coin is that some of the more interesting people I have in my life have come from JUB. And they are very demonstrably real. Hell i wanted to organize a CEP type meetup here in KC simply because I know it would elevate the conversation if each of us saw and KNEW human beings typing the words we read. It is simply different after you know someone is real and not just from the ether.
Anyways Rant over.... Cheers!!
If fellow JUBbers have no value unless you have met in person, why bother taking anyone seriously who seeks advice on coming to terms with who they are as gay men or why bother talking someone out of suicidal thoughts or why bother reaching out to someone struggling with loneliness and despair? Why not just treat everyone like they are here to personally amuse you?
JUB becomes more superficial with every passing day.
Everyone wants to be heard. No one wants to listen.
I was at the meet in St. Louis too. Doesn't make me, or the people I met, any less capable of being fake here. I met many people at the restaurant gathering who may be real people with real lives but their JUB personas were not who they really are. Same goes for the meet I put together in Los Angeles (Orange County) for Disney Gay Days. The people who gathered together are very real. Doesn't make them any more real HERE and doesn't make me any more capable of proving that.
So all that stuff about meeting real people and you being real does not prove whether or not Andreus was real or fake.
You are not more important than anyone else because you went to St. Louis and met everyone and you are not more important because you've been on JUB since it was LMAO.
You have not answered the question of how you know Andreus was fake. You have only spewed nonsense about how real you are and how no one can compare to the people at the St. Louis meet or the people who began at LMAO. Both of which have nothing to do with your statement about Andreus. Nobody asked you if you were fake and nobody asked you to pass judgment on JUB present vs. JUB past.
The simple question was, how do you know?
Some of ya'll are investing an unhealthy interest in Internet relationships/reality.
Oh god Telstra, no!!!!!!!!!!!!! The elevator doesn't ever get to the top floor in you, does it?
unofficial official mini meet Friday- Saturday April 11-12, 2014
Your passive aggressive behavior Stacy is right on que.
I don't really owe anyone an explanation, especially you.
Telstra: I am not Andreus, that is really hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!
Internet relationships often serve as the bedrock for real, live ones.
If Stacy doesn't mind my using her for an example, she and Jasun became close in real life, after she met Jasun on line. Others have had similar experiences.
(BTW, how is Jasun, y'all?)
Nobody asked that. Nobody questioned your realness or the validity of JUB now that it is not LMAO. Nobody. The question is, who is Andreus?
If you can not figure it out by what I have already posted,oh well.
I am not Bradlee. Haha!
Stacy herself was preaching like twenty pages back about "who cares if he was real, he affected us" blah blah. Sure he did. Still stuck on the topic 26 pages in. End it already. No one cares - we've had the same ten posters or so going ad verbatim/ad nauseam for weeks.
We've all learned people should be taken at face value. If you don't know them offline, don't assume they are who they say they are until you do. We've had total loons/crazies on this forum in the 5 years I've been here and we'll have several more in the future. It's the Internet.
Unsubscribing to the thread now. Got boring. Good luck solving 'the mystery' of this guy. I'll invest my time in something a little more prudent.
Jasun is doing great. His work with TitanMen is fantastic and he just directed, edited and composed the music for his first full feature at Titan called Nightfall.

I would never get so mentally involved with an electronic entity that I would be devastated that they rejected me or lied to me. What ever it was they needed then they obviously got it from portraying whomever they wanted to portray.
I just think there is a significant difference between how I allow personas on the internet to affect me. Like I previously said that does not mean I disrespect them or give them horrible advice when they reach out for help.
I find the idea of an internet chat forum as being or not being superficial positively ludicrous or exceedingly obvious. I find plastic synthetic and I have also found carrots to be organic in nature.
Of course we can't ever know "for sure" who is real or fake, or "how real" someone is here compared to offline, except for those in the community who actually do know each other offline. But it's a rather huge reduction imho to take (randomly pulling out someone I think is pretty genuine) Stacy and say we should treat her with the same skepticism as (insert caught sock puppet.)
Sure do,I also remember what I DIDN'T say
Do we need concrete and definitive proof that Andreus was fake? Isn't there really enough compelling "speculative evidence" (for lack of better words) that he was fabricated? The super-sleuthing of his name/existence, the posts from Corny & Hoody pointing out inconsistencies & their speculations from way back when, the over dramatic and seemingly unbelievable life/death the guy had, the timely disappearance of BP, etc., etc. I really don't think we need to be challenging trusted members any further for proof, nor arguing amongst ourselves over something like this that has been discussed to death. Let's keep this all in perspective...ok?! Sure...actual proof might be nice, but I highly doubt there is anything more available that one can produce in an online atmosphere that will satisfy and convince everyone.
I was around when Drue was a member, and I somewhat followed his saga and postings. He was very charismatic, intelligent, likeable...at least to the casual eye of a member like me. I never questioned his validity, but I wasn't one that had many interactions with him either...just often read his posts (skimmed over many since brevity wasn't his strong point). However, now in retrospect, with all the known pieces laid out in black and white, I mean come on...really!? It's all just so fantastic.
I have to admit that I did enjoy the character that was Andreus. I almost want to commend his creator for a pretty good job at the deception. I have even enjoyed this entire thread...the plot twist to the original story...years later. It's feels like a cliffhanger ending to a story/movie, that just leaves the viewer having to imagine/surmise what really happened. I kind of don't want any further resolution to this.
Bad decisions make good stories.
^One final question to the Andreus saga does exist.
I noticed in the Garden of Memories a post by someone stating that Mitri--Andreus's brother--had given him a personal phone call. Since no one has ever questioned the authenticity of that particular poster, we now have a question as to who actually called that poster on the phone.
That phone call must have been very interesting. Did "Mitri" pull off a fake accent? An accent so convincing that it convinced Mr. X?
That leads us me to believe that "Andreus" and "Mitri" were both creations of a most remarkable actor--one who might have attended Actors Studio or some such.
I'd love to know. Mysteries never cease to obsess me.
However I agree the closure of this Thread is now over due, it has certainly stirred up as much controvercy as many of Andreus's Threads themselves !
I propose entombment.
Here is a little sketch for the repository. It is only fitting that this thread about a Greek homo should rest here.
To me, that's just not fair. Fakers should be condemned. Otherwise we're just encouraging them, while the real people in the coming out forum (for example), with real problems, and real life experiences, are demoted to nobodies.
Anyone else here have the ability to change the color of their screen name to black?
Odd isn't it?
Was it Inwood?
