Christianity does not condemn homosexuality.
Paul had something to say on the matter, but the dude was all up in your face about everything. If the transcriptionists hadn't ever found or translated this little tidbit from Paul...is there anything else in the Christian dogma that would have touched on this? Nope. Because the Commandments don't have anything to say about it either.
But Christ was mum on the subject. And Paul is not Christ.
But a lot of us weren't sure whether Andreus might not have been.....

Agreed. The only clear condemnations of it other than Paul come from sections of the Bible that literally put it alongside things like touching a woman who is on her period or eating lobster as all things that will get you tossed out of the kingdom of heaven. Christians ignore literally everything in the OT except that one line.
O.K.!
I think we can all agree, to agree, that "Andreus Thanos" was likely a nom de plume, just as (and I'm sure I'll shock a few of you) "Kyanimal" is!
Now ... was he "Real" or a "Puppet"?
There certainly was a Real person behind the Character, whether a "Puppeteer", or not. And, the character of Adreus certainly existed HERE as this very thread Proves! SO ... Yes! Andreus did, and to a surprising extent still does, "Exist"!
He was a very notorious "force" on this site, and I consider myself quite fortunate to have been "here" at the time, and had the experience of interacting with him! I doubt I'll ever forget him!
I consider it a moot point if there was/is an ACTUAL Dreu person running around "out there" somewhere! There is no doubt he was definitely "Here"!
Keep smilin'!!![]()

WISDOM is the Knowledge you've gained ... After you could have used it! _Me
Andreus has passed beyond mere mortality. He is now legend.
I hope i'm this popular when i 'die'.
one thing about the closet/you don't have to hurry/it will be bad tomorrow/so brother, don't you worry![]()
^I find it interesting to watch the tone of this thread evolve. It has changed, as surely as do the seasons.
Contiuning on with the analogy, it's fall (autumn) in this thread. Eulogies are being said for the sockpuppet/creative invention of Andreus. The thread has matured before our very eyes.
I think this was one of the best threads ever for JUB. I'm glad to see that others have agreed.
Heavens to Betsy boyz...
If everyone can't just come to the point of having some fun with the entire affair.....then we all are a pretty dour bunch.
Andreus would have not wanted us to laugh, because frankly he was a joyless sort, but if we can't laugh at one another, who else is there???
Ourselves?
As far as a requiem goes....
We have something like this.
Rather than sift through all the replies to this thread to try gauge it, I'd be quite interested to see what everyone's opinion is via a separate thread with a poll....
I would do it, but I'm pretty sure I'd miss out at least 5 options that people would want to vote for.
How about....
To be clear, Dreu was not a joyless poster. He often spontaneously posted song lyrics, or would begin a thread or comment about something off-color like poo.
Fair enough. I thought it would be interesting to see the effect this thread has had on the general JUB population....
Before, except for a few, it seems everyone believed most of what he said, I'd like to know if this thread has changed their opinion and if so, how much....
Also, remember there are probably a lot more people that have read this thread than have participated in it![]()
You could say lots of things about him, but he was not joyless or humorless. He could be very playful and childlike.
It was not unusual for him to say really terrible things to you in a public forum, then send a PM trying to make peace.
I never trusted the latter, so I didn't buy into that, but I doubt he wanted to live in the animosity that he often created.
I highly doubt there are many here who believed he was a fraud who didn't also share a laugh about something with him.
Everyone wants to be heard. No one wants to listen.
If anyone still actually believes the story as-presented is really true and either there was a mistake with the search for his name or he simply slightly modified his real name (with the rest all being true) they have not had the courage to say so. Only some very indirect nitpicks about the thread or people's tendencies to hide their real name.
I'd have to think people who still fully believe would be rare if they're out there. The tone definitely changed to "whether he was real or fake... his IMPACT was real" even among the former believers.
Fair enough.
And I think you'd find that a lot of people have probably gone from unwavering belief to suspended belief to questioning belief and then to disbelief.
The good news though is that the most ardent believers seem to all not really care at the end of the day if there ever was a real corporeal being with the ethos, the pathos, the adventures and the frailties of the Andreus avatar.
That is healthy.
childlike I don't remember.....
As for slagging someone off and then trying to make up in private, abusive borderline personalities all do it.
They are so afraid of real rejection that they are always crying for forgiveness...just so that they can return and get away with the same shit again.
I guess for the most part I found his pronouncements and perspectives solemn rather than serious and didn't have the opportunity to experience the whimsical side of him that others did.
But I guess if he posted about poo.. then we are all still tight.
To break into the serious only briefly, several of us may simply be philosophic.
Andreus was a living person -- that much is fact. He wasn't a program (as some have suggested about Sloppy), he wasn't a dullard by any means, and he wasn't boring.
Many of us have reached an age that has informed us over time that truth is not so certain in much of life all around us. Marriages were riddled with strife, children were lying about much of what they told us, or employers were doing appalling things while smiling and carrying on.
We could become bitter and jaded, or we could simply accept that some things and people just have to be taken for what they can give, and not for what they cannot.
Dreu is that for me. Whether he was cynical, shy, deceptive, playful, or anything in between, he was a good friend on the boards. In like fashion, I remember and yet love RobertAC, long after his confession that his love life was a sham with his ambulance driver. Behind all that pretense, there was a soul, a soul that wanted love, acceptance, respect, and just a good life. I'll bet he has it yet.
For Dreu, I knew at the time of his death that there was speculation of a sham, and it mattered not. The notion that he lives yet is great. When I taught high school English some decades ago, I quickly learned that I liked the spirited students the best, not necessarily the good.
Dreu was spirited, highly spirited.

Don't you remember how he and Kahil went from thread to thread with their love poetry to each other. They found it hilarious, but it annoyed alot of people. Unfortunately, Kahil never realized he was being toyed with.
The key to dealing with Andreus was not to take him too seriously. He took himself seriously enough for everyone.
Everyone wants to be heard. No one wants to listen.
^^ I guess that is why I didn't think it was either light hearted or amusing and didn't pay much attention to it.
It does sound as though Kahil (Kahaih?) is the one person who may have been actually hurt by all this nonsense and so on his behalf, I'd be happy to:

Kahil is DEFINITELY not Kahaih. Kahil is verifiable all over the web, which was posted in this thread earlier and deleted for good reason.
If he chooses to leave JUB behind, and he did both involuntarily and voluntarily, in that order, then we should leave him be, as Corny said.
And Dreu was only ever nice to me, by PM or forum, but I imagine he saw me as somewhat fragile then.

I envy the members who can say "I knew Andreus. Andreus was a friend of mine. (Newbie) you are no Andreus."
I have sensed a change in the wind direction at least twice.
Early on, there were two camps: half believed he was real, and the other half didn't.
Later on, there were stilll two camps, but they differed: one believed he was probably fake, but didn't think it was a big deal. They cherished him, anyway.
The other camp believed he was probably fake, and feels hurt and betrayed by his treachery.
I myself belong to the second camp, but it must be realized that I hate lying and deceit. I really do. We must accept the ugly fact that "Andreus Thanos" manipulated our feelings. That's ugly.
There might be one or two people who still believe he was real.
Please capitalize where needed. Did you help your Uncle Jack off a horse, or help your uncle jack off a horse?

Yes.
I recall several threads which were rendered useless by his and Elvin's continual doing of such and attempting to playfully 1-up each other to the point of my extreme irritation. If I saw either of them had last post, I'd usually not bother opening the thread.
So... I find myself wondering how Andreus would have viewed the plethora of gifs in JUB these days?

Did Andreus -- before joining the Immortals -- leave any thoughts, warnings or advice on 12/21/12? Or, as I expect, he was inscrutable on the subject.
With BP MIA perhaps we could check his townhouse for clues.
Everyone wants to be heard. No one wants to listen.
Ah, yes, the sacred cow of Islam. Anything could be said about any other religion, but don't touch Islam.
Andreus told me felt he needed to aggressively defend Islam because he was being watched here and his life could be in danger.
So, perhaps it was murder and not death by natural causes?
