Ok I am going to be honest I am unfamiliar with music today in general. I am out of it and I an completely fine with that. However, I do like to keep up with the news and what not and this name and picture pops up frequently.


Now I always thought that face was suspect but after seeing that particular picture I am fully convinced that is a women. Or at the very lest one of those people who's parents had to make a decision upon birth about the sex of the child. hermaphrodite. I truly and utterly believe he carries some strong feminine gene. She is so fucking androgynous its ridiculous. Do not tell me it is puberty because we all went through it and not a single time in my child hood or teenage years did I or anyone I knew looked feminine. I believe a person grows out of that during their infancy stage. I am willing to put money down on this shit!

You act as if it isn't a big story to have a girl/dude pop star. You act as if this is just nothing and we all should just act as if it is a back drop to her music. To some im sure it is. But this story is completely unearthed to me. I had no idea this character was about in the music industry and is actually making money while doing so. And no I do not run across anyone in my own like who is even remotely androgynous.

See I agree with every single thing you said. Except, Im not angry. Why would i be angry ? See that's the thing with the internet and these forums. Text do not equal words. I'm reminded of a (straight) male musician from the 80s who wore his hair long, in the style of the day. Once the band started getting popular, everybody assumed he was a woman. So he cut his hair short...and everybody thought he was a woman with short hair. He gave up and grew it long again.

Some guys just look effeminate. Others are trans. In my limited experience, the two tend to be rather distinct categories. The few trans folk I know tend to have had a really hard time coming to grips with their gender issues. They tend to have isues with body dysmorphia - they hate their bodies not because they look too much like the opposite gender, but because they don't look enough like the opposite gender. Their body is built one way but their brains are wired the other. And the transition from birth gender to internal gender is rarely a smooth one - there's surgery and hormone therapy and that horribly "second adolescent" phase where they're stuck in-between. It's an unpleasant position I wouldn't wish on anybody, and I admire those who grit their teeth and go through it.

Bieber isn't any of the above. He's a guy with effeminate characteristics. And such guys have made a mint performing music to breathy teenage girls of all ages for decades. Unless you think (in their youths) Donny Osmond, Rick Springfield, Michael Jackson, Menudo, Aaron Carter and Hanson were considered paragons of masculinity. Part of the appeal is their effeminacy. To a straight teenage girl, teenagerss of the opposite sex are both fascinating and terrifying. A "softer" version of the same who sings songs suggesting he "cares" and "understands" can be exceptionally appealing.

that's what some psychological researchers were saying awhile back. don't really buy it though. i've heard some females say the opposite about some guys that are hyped up with feminine looking features such as chace crawford. i also saw on this tv show awhile back on discovery which was talking about the science of attraction about how a guy's status can make him be seen as more attractive than let's say a guy who is a bum. they were doing tests on some random women on the street where they rated some random guys that were unknown, they got low to average marks but when some well known and famous celebrities popped up, they gave them high marks. one of them gave jay-z a 10 and was all acting happy go lucky about it.

and i disagree with you about the beatles. the beatles seemed a bit when they had all the girls all over them when they first came to the states. the girlish looking one out of all of them was john lennon.

The most most popular were ones who had a 'crying' sound in their voice and those who sang falsetto (like Barry Gibb).
