Funny you mention that because apparently according to their Wikipedia page, there was a similar show made on Fox WAAAAY back in 1995 and that only lasted one season.

Last Resort was pretty fun but I knew it wouldn't last.

I knew Partners was destined to be cancelled after the second episode (which is when I stopped watching).

I am not surprised Partners got cancelled. I think the casting and the chemistry of the cast just did not work. I felt like Brandon Routh needed a partner that had the same kind of looks he had. I also think Michael Urie's character was too over the top. The guy who played the straight character I didn't feel like he had chemistry as the best friend of Michael Urie's character. I also felt that the plot was contrived and basically copying Will and Grace success with a few minor changes.

NOt shocked at all. This show wasn't funny at all and the chemistry wasn't there.
