    Are you going, Belly?

I would think it's too low brow for you.

You are wrong: it's just too outer space for me

In fact , as usual in mid-to-late January, I have been smelling spring for a few days... even the rain reminds one of typical spring in BCN. But yes, still a bit chilly and leafless for spring... just had them gone one month ago...

Exactly: "style" and sophistication today are rather a geek thing than anything... like the stupid sport shoes, stupid cars, the stupid tech-fabrics in fashion... damn, this must be the sort of posting that makes pat say he likes me so much...

Dennis Price was young and gay and starred in one of Britain's best films (Kind Hearts & Coronets) in 1949.

Ten years later he was fat and alcoholic and could only get B-parts. A South African newspaper allegedly published his obituary, but unfortunately called him "Penis Price". The following week, they printed an apology but sadly printed his name this time as "Dennis Prick" .

I've seen this movie. Too bad the British film industry seems to have disintegrated.

The British had a quota system to stop the flood from Hollywood. But The American flood was unstoppable. I believe the French still have a quota system.

I've watched the occasional Dutch movie on TV.

Have you ever seen "This Charming Man"? Not a full-length movie, but a short film about 25 or 28 minutes long. I haven't found a link before, so I didn't try now, but it was an Academy Award winner like in 2003 or something.

It's Danish, not Dutch, but it's in the same neighbourhood...

You sleep for eight hours (even if you wake up at 3:00 AM to pee and keep waking up and dozing off several times afterwards in the early morning) and then everything that you had lost somewhere in your memory comes back to you again

Talk for yourself; I wake up and I have permanently forgotten complete years of my education. Luckily I still remember my name and what I should be doing that day.

Well, if you insist. I posted this picture with the caption "and you thought they smelled bad on the outside".

Another friend posted a photo of a hot woman wearing a cut-off Broncos jersey (and little else). I responded "That actually looks like the Broncos today - very little coverage." THAT one they found funny.

From a paper snip concerning Umberto Eco's launching into best-seller land, back in 1983 (no, I am not stupidly considering models, but you should know that if you read me well: I just like the Rose because there are books and a huge all-encompassing labyrinthic library involved)...

Was the one about the helmet implying that its design was particularly stinky? because, honestly, in the US, like in China, you need a lot of nerve to criticize some logo or any sort of design as particularly stinky above the rest... maybe by comparison, as was the case of GAP, but not so much in itself.

Re: What have you learnt today?

I realised that I can't really join in with this thread as I don't learn anything new any day.

In fact my memory is so bad that the only dates that I can remember are 1950, when I was born and 1066, the Battle of Hastings (and goodness knows why I that date has stuck in my head).

Because it marks the official beginning of the Anglo-Franco hybridization of which you are one of the latest and finest examples?

Apart from that, your post is utter rubbish: you are one of the "downers" in a villa in the French Riviera and you do not have anything new everyday to tell about and share..? HA! another thing is that you want to keep your job by not making a Paul Burrell: hopefully you are far better paid than by working for the stingy Windsors

My goodness I do believe that that is a compliment.

It's good that you remember the recent past.

Experts on dementia say it's good to keep the brain's Frontal Lobe healthy and to keep on "laying down new memories".

Yes my days can be repetitive but at least we can all come here and learn from Belamo's wonderfully active explorations into knowledge.

Like updating my "knowledge" on that pompous, hypocrite, overestimated ham singer-preacher who has been protracting his career fifty years longer than it should, had he stuck to his own standards..?
