We are going to try to check it out. Launching a new site takes so much time and energy it's hard to get away from the office. We are located in north Jersey, so it's not an inconvenience, but just have to find the time. Personally, JUB has been one of my bookmarks for years!

Or as he was known jokingly(and lovingly) by Frank, "Onion Fries"! Well hello back! Just wish it for that weekend, too! Hope he's doing well. Last time we saw him( at the Las Vegas meet) he was really into going barefoot wherever possible. Still getting out of footwear whenever he can?

What a surprise seeing him mentioned. As far as I can tell, he doesn't exist on Facebook at all. I've wanted to talk to him again since the last time in 2010.

Looking forward to a fortnight from now!

Of note: The Book of Mormon, from South Park creators

Winner of the 2011 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Direction, Best Book, Best Original Score, Best Featured Actress in a Musical and more!

From Trey Parker and Matt Stone, four-time Emmy Award-winning creators of South Park, and Robert Lopez, Tony Award-winning co-creator of Avenue Q, comes a new Broadway musical called “the funniest show I've ever seen, by far” (Entertainment Weekly) and “so good it makes me angry” (Jon Stewart, The Daily Show).

The Book of Mormon follows a pair of mismatched Mormon boys sent on a mission to a place that’s about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get. Co-directed by Mr. Parker and three-time Tony nominee Casey Nicholaw and described as “making the audience insane with joy in this way I don't think I've ever seen in a theater” (Ira Glass, This American Life), see it now or find yourself asking, “Dear God, how do I get tickets?” (Village Voice). Contains explicit language.

Just SO many things to see and do, that I haven't anywhere even done! I'm just sorry it couldn't be a longer meet as I have an aunt and uncle's 50th anniversary party on Sunday. I really wasn't expecting much traction on getting any kind of real get together as nothing of note seems to have been tried since the Portland meet in 2011, and none of these New York area things surprisingly has ever taken off. It's been proposed by others way before myself and nothing has ever come of it, but frankfrank and I thought "what the hell" and decided to try here once more. Very appreciative of palbert's efforts to get this to an even wider JUB public. I know it's kinda last minute, and the economy still isn't really humming for a lot of people so budget wise it might be tough for some. However hopeful some more out of towners and more than a few locals join us!

I have not been to the 9/11 memorial, Central Park, nor Ellis Island, nor many other sites and it has been several years since I have seen the sites which I have seen prior. Still, I look forward to us meeting and hanging out together and exploring the city as a native New Yorker might even more than how much we can see. I am looking forward to this meeting. I am staying in the Westin Jersey City Newport Hotel at 479 Washington Blvd. See you there.

I just sent PM's to Dynk and TheWiz. (Latter, I only hope I did, because his name appeared entirely in lower case letters. Is that correct?) I'm guessing it's very likely they don't even know about this, and it's pretty short notice of course. I meant to do this as soon as I originally found out that Criostoir didn't know about the meet which also proved my observation that JUB meets are REALLY "hidden" on this website.

I hope that other people in the area see this thread, and possibly decide to make their way to our meet.

I don't know if anyone will care, but I've just realized that the Hoboken Art and Music Festival is Sunday, September 29, 2013.

It's a street fair with street fair stuff (funnel cake and zeppoles, fresh lemonade, booths for local restaurants), a craft fair with craft-fair stuff (handmade windchimes, wood chotchkes, paintings ranging from sublime to really awful), and a 3-stage music fair with quite a number of bands and music acts (The Feelies, Speed the Plough, The NERDS).

It attracts a lot of young people because of the bands, and sometimes there are hunky young guys on parade. No promises though.

    Info and schedules.

It attracts a lot of young people because of the bands, and sometimes there are hunky young guys on parade. No promises though.

    OH.

    MY.

    GOD.

This is, SOOOOO, my kind of thing!!! it actually conflicts with something I want to do in Manhattan at 3 and, of course, Hoboken is easy access to Manhattan. Sunday suddenly looks crazy busy, and way cool.

Hmm. They probably want you there by 1:30 for a 2:30 flight, right? ...it'd be tough. I'm not sure how long it takes to get to LGA from Hoboken (I fly out of EWR when I fly), and the fair starts at 11:00 or so (music acts not til later), but I just don't know. If you're taking a cab to LGA you could ask the cab company (you should definitely reserve in advance if that's what you're doing), but that would still leave the problem of what to do with your luggage, unless you're staying in Hoboken.

So where are the pictures, you attendees? The ones that can go up here, I mean.

I know we never had the "posting photos to JUB" seminar we discussed. Hope that's not why.

The photos are in the hot topics stickied one.... I may just do a spin off thread of my picture taking in New York in general, too. Probably add a couple more to the main one before that, however.
