Why won't media acknowledge Gay vote?

During the election they said Obama's chance of winning depended on the Black, Latino, young peoples and womens vote. No where did they mention the gay vote.

Obama even knew in 2008, that his chance of winning depended on the minorities coming together and making a large percentage of the vote, that even if he got a smaller percentage of the white vote compared to the republicans, he would still win.

Gay people are White, Black, Latino e.tc so the percentage of them voting should make a difference, plus their influence on women voting. The media know this, but once again we are hidden in the shadows, what's so wrong with us?

When do you think the republicans will realize, them winning also depends on us?

What Rareboy said. I've seen pictures of the house Chris Barron and his husband live in and their vacation house. The financial indigities many LGBT couples face under DOMA and state laws aren't an issue for them. Thus,they can support Republicians who seek to make LGBT people second class citizens.
For being Conservative,they sure support a party that wants to get into people's personal lives.

I will add - when we aren't so self-hating and hiding that they could just dismiss us as "too small percentage to matter." For every out gay man there are five closeted ones. Can you imagine if we all stood up for our rights without shame?

I'd be willing to wager that there's an equal number of American Queers, if not greater, who can't wait for the day when who we choose to vote for, or the letter that follows that candidate's name doesn't end with the letter D.

I've spent most of my adult life working in the public sector, and doing business with the public.

I have actually had customers say to me, "Before I do business with you, I want to know how you're voting."

My answer? "Exactly like you are!"

When they seek to clarify, I answer this way, "Any damned way that I please!"

We are less than the millions of women voters, black voters, latino voters, etc. as a numeral demographic. Most of us are also a part of these same demographics. I don't believe the power of our vote is being marginalized. We are a significant force, although it would be nice to have that other 25% voting to stand up for themselves and their community.

At least at JUB it was less than 8%.

To those saying our vote doesn't matter, cause who aren't the majority, maybe in the past. America is no longer just a white church going country. Year on year, the amount of different ethnic groups, atheists, those who support abortion, gay rights e.t.c is growing. The gay vote does matter! For someone to to win the presidency can mean 1 % or less, in a state.... and I am sure that in total, the LGBT is more than that. Put all these minorities together and you have a problem for the Republicans

76% for Mr Obama according to HRC, from a total of 6 million LGBT voters.

Most out people that I know have multiple issues related to how open they are exactly about their sexuality with strangers.

An exit poll done on election day of 6,625 gay voters I posted before showed it closer to 90%.

I'm not aware of whether exit polls ask of people's sexual identity.

I think I recall reading somewhere that, in Election 2008, Barack Obama received over 70 percent of the vote from LGBT people. John McCain was somewhere just over 25 but less than 30 percent.

Only thing I heard leaving my poll is "be sure to get a sticker" to which I said, no thanks. I guess this only happens in bigger cities or swing states. I live in GA and it has always went Rep since I can remember. That Austin Scott (who ran unopposed) guy has an office down the street from my apt but I never see him there.
