NBC's current count shows Murphy with 160,328, West with 157,872, for a difference of 2,456, or 0.77%. While that's not enough to trigger a mandatory recount, it's enough that West can ask for one -- but as the state supervisor of elections has pointed out, there's no mechanism for a candidate or party requesting a recount, even with a difference of less than one percent, as there is in many states. So what West has to do is go to court and argue that one should be done -- and the only basis for such a request would be evident voting irregularities.

So it will be a court fight, which means as in so many things... the winners are the lawyers.

Yes, I think Christie did an amazing job handling the storm. It is clear that he deeply cares about people above politics...

If Christie had been the nominee he would have been MIA the last two weeks of the campaign. No credible Republican candidate came forward because of the fear of losing to an incumbent. Christie didn't want to wait 8 years to run and then have to do it on someone else's record.

It's refreshing to see a politician put the job he was elected to do before partisan politics.

He'll be fine; after this election, he's one of only a few repubs that I believe could garner positive national attention AND support of those other than white males.

if he starts losing weight, you know he wants to run for the Presidency. He would be smart to get in peak physical condition for the grueling campaign.

Also, if you see him tone down his style just a tad, I think that's another omen of his presidential ambitions....
