Here is an interesting 1 hour documentary about the necessity of enforcing the establishment clause of the constitution of the United States. In order to protect everyone's freedom of religion, governing bodies must remain completely neutral with regards to EVERY religion. This concept seems to be lost on many when the enforcement means removal of the christian religion from the governing body. Then, suddenly, it becomes spun into a ludicrous argument that it is a form of oppression of people's religious beliefs. The documentary explores the fallout of a high school student's fight for the removal of a history teacher's fire-and-brimstone proselytizing during class at a public school in New Jersey. Regardless of the religious beliefs of the majority of the population of this community, to remain anything other than neutral with regards to all religions is a violation of the establishment clause, yet, in helping to uphold his (as well as everyone's) constitutional rights, he is chastised by nearly everyone because it means removal of christian beliefs. The hypocrisy is unmistakable if one considers what would become of such a situation had the teacher been telling his students about the glorious nature of Allah and how it is only through the prophet Muhammad that one can enter heaven. The entire conflict reminds me of a quote from John Stewart: "You've confused a 'war on religion' with 'not always getting everything you want'. "
