How is it going there, refuj? I heard it's about to make landfall.

I'm just hoping that my power doesn't go out for a week like last year. So far we lost power for about an hour. The internet goes in and out every so often. I'm lucky that I don't live too close to the water, but it's still creepy. I just want to get my school work done since I don't have classes ahhaa.
Here's how down port looks like![]()
Picture of a wave hitting Cape May.
We've lost power twice so far but it's back on atm. Nothing too crazy up in MA. I rolled my eyes at people who didn't heed the mayor's advice and remove their cars from the streets (Boston already bans overnight parking in the winter anyways so that isn't a new concept). Insurance companies consider that a waive of paying a deductible since it is a state of emergency.
No, she passed us by here in South Carolina lol. Somebody needs to sue her ass for shutting down the stock market for today and tomorrow! I'm a day trader so I can't make any money the first 2 days of the week now lol. It's sure unusual for the north to be getting hit with hurricanes. I hope it doesn't kill anybody or do too much damage.
We've had lots of rain here in Western New York.
The winds are expected to pick up after midnight.
Many of the school districts (including mine) in the Rochester metro area have decided to close for Tuesday, October 30.
The Three Musketeers... Bashful, Chrisglass, and Ronboy!
Still not too rainy here in Central NJ. The gusts have become stronger and more frequent, though.
she's okay. it's that she has to deal with those lousy people at her job that are miserable as hell. she already has enough problems to deal with. hopefully something comes up where she can't go to work because it's getting worse outside. don't know what these assholes are thinking dragging her out here in these shithole conditions.
you guys had your power out already? we've been good so far. the lights been flickering but no outage yet. about to eat dinner now just in case the electricity goes out.
- - - Updated - - -
has the power went out around your way yet? it's nasty outside and rainy up here in north jersey.
one thing about the closet/you don't have to hurry/it will be bad tomorrow/so brother, don't you worry![]()
Not yet, but we're expecting it to happen any time now. The lights are flickering and other areas of town have lost electricity. :-\
I just went outside a few minutes ago and I could swear I saw green lightning, plus there's the constant whining of sirens in the distance. It feels like the apocalypse!
wow @ green lightning. hopefully, no tornados or whatever pop up because of this. it does feel like the apocalypse. maybe this is what it's going to be like december 21st.we've been lucky that the power hasn't gone out for some of us in jersey even though it looks like our lucks are running out.
one thing about the closet/you don't have to hurry/it will be bad tomorrow/so brother, don't you worry![]()
Yep.What area are you in? I'm in Middlesex County.
I looked into the "green lightning" and found this explanation:
Scary stuff.Green/turquoise flashes and/or changing colors: A flash of light in the sky that lingers, pulses and/or changes colors is not lightning, but electrical arcing from shorted-out power lines. These arcs are called 'power flashes' and can be triggered by a variety of severe weather - including ice storms, high winds, tornadoes, or by a direct lightning strike. Electrical arcing, whether caused by lightning, ice or wind damage, is very intense, can be as bright as lightning, can illuminate the entire sky and can change color from blue, green, turquoise, red and orange. When lightning strikes an energized power line, an electrical flashover arc can result. Lightning-triggered flashover arcs usually begin during the strike and linger for a few seconds after the strike is over.
Southeastern Mass: power just came back on after being out for most of the afternoon. Lots of wind and flooding along the coast.
Good luck to all those in NY and NJ.
Tornados was said to be only a minor threat according to Dr. Masters on Weatherundergroudn.
Your power is still on? I hope the storm goes through quickly and the clean up can begin.
Having been through several hurricanes I know the feeling... one was category 4...
Although it's barely raining, the winds have gotten pretty intense. We keep momentarily losing electricity. Expecting it to go off permanently at any second.
i'm in essex county. it's crazy outside. going to see if my mom called out from work. it's horrible outside. the gusts are extreme outside.
saw this on the news.![]()
yeah, the power is actually still on. can't believe it. with how bad it is outside, the power should be out by now. the lights keep flickering too but not enough for the power to go out on the tv where it has to be switched back on.
there has to be a lot of damage from this. hear some noise coming from my window. hope that the window isn't cracked or about to break. might have to close the drapes just in case that happens.
dude, hurricanes are horrible. what's the scariest thing you've experienced during a hurricane?
now that i think of it, i would rather deal with a blizzard than this shit. this is scary as hell. hate hearing the wind gusting like that outside. it's fucking crazy.
one thing about the closet/you don't have to hurry/it will be bad tomorrow/so brother, don't you worry![]()
Wind is changing direction and intensifying again. This is what happened right before we lost power the first time.
Grrrrrr.
Keep safe folks!
The rain and wind have picked up here (since my last post), and the power flickered once, but otherwise, we're still OK.
We seem to be the city that missed the water. The wind is dying down now quickly too.
It's hilarious what a different world NYC becomes when all the locals are trapped inside. I'm getting a ridiculous amount of likes on anything I write on Facebook almost instantly, just because EVERYONE is on it.
And not to mention I'm getting hit up on Grindr nonstop. There's about ten dudes in a five-block radius trying to get a piece of this.
Boston is "open" tomorrow. The ocean side of MA and the Islands got crushed hard today. A few branches and trees down in my parents' area but nothing crazy. There's a tree in the woods behind their house that is literally choked by ivy and I am shocked it hasn't fallen yet. It's at a 30 degree angle.
Reckon my brother has been holed up in NYC since Sunday morning, his condo in New Haven is fine and no flooding either. Long Island acting as a breaker sheltered Connecticut from much of the hurricane, at least wave wise.
This super storm wasn't one. While it may be scary for those in its path and it will cause destruction, it won't even come close to other hurricanes.

$10-20 billion in damages. That's in sharp contrast to other storms that caused far more damage. A hurricane like Katrina was moving quite slowly ($108 billion in damages). In terms of monetary damage, it's roughly on the same level as Hurricane Irene. The fact that it is moving fast means conditions will clear up in the matter of 48-72 hours.

Presently it's moving at 18mph NW... and has weakened. Soon it'll be a tropical storm.
Massachusetts and Connecticut both lucked out not to get much of the brunt. I talked with a few relatives in Connecticut... all is fine.

There will be damage, but not quite what was expected. But I'm sure New Jersey will have sustained the majority of damage.
Tornadoes touching down literally 10-15 miles away. Luckily there weren't many from what I hear with Sandy.dude, hurricanes are horrible. what's the scariest thing you've experienced during a hurricane?
Don't panic... it might be scary... but it'll pass. Hold tight. I made it through a Cat 4 hurricane... that was ions ago though when I lived in Texas many years ago when I was younger.now that i think of it, i would rather deal with a blizzard than this shit. this is scary as hell. hate hearing the wind gusting like that outside. it's fucking crazy.
What gender is Hurricane Sandy?
We have gender-equity for Australian hurricanes.
~
I looked that up - it's a she, since the two names either side are he - Rafael and Tony.
In fact, Tony has already been and gone - a weak Tropical Storm that barely lasted at all before it ended away out in the mid-Atlantic.
Any prospects?
Ain't no damn hurricane going to stop our NaughtyArousal!
You should invite all ten of them over for a 'party'.![]()

Good Morning, JUB!
Sir Ron made it through the night.
The wind gusted quite a bit, but I still have electricity, telephone, digital cable, internet, etc...
My school is closed today.
Therefore, life, post-Sandy, is good!![]()
The Three Musketeers... Bashful, Chrisglass, and Ronboy!
Thanks for checking in, ronboy. Glad you’re ok.
I’ve seen a couple others posting today, and hope to see a few more stopping in so we know they’re ok, too.
I expect that many will be trying to catch a few winks after such a long frightening night.
Maybe Corny knows how to turn on their webcams so we can peek in on them?![]()
Really lucked out here in Voorhees, NJ. There were really strog winds and rain for a while but the most that came out of it was the electricity flickering.
At my own apartment with my friends the electricity went out. Lucky I shacked up here.
My lights didn't even flicker, Sandy, gworl, bye

No power, no work. South of Boston.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
So sorry to see that, Alister.
Winds in Western NY are fairly calm as of 1:00 PM EDT.
The sun is occasionally peeking through the clouds.
Temperature is a balmy (for late October) 56 degrees.
The Three Musketeers... Bashful, Chrisglass, and Ronboy!
Everything's cleared up here.
Still no word from refUG - since 8:14 last night?
Hopefully all it is for him is a power outage. Dont know where in jersey he is (unless i just missed him mentioning where).
My father in north NJ didn't have any big problems with the storm. The electric company shut his power off at 9PM Monday and turned it back on about 5PM today. My aunt and uncle who are 20 miles south of him lost power due to the storm.
Never cease to find it strange
How at midnight things seem hopeless
But by dawn they've changed
Didn't have school yesterday or today. Power went out yesterday for about 6 hours and a huge limb from a tree fell in our backyard along with a portion of our fence. Today's whether was nice though but there were a lot of live wires around creating a danger for kids walking to school. I live outside of Boston.
