http://www.wunderground.com/tropical...218_model.html - Well they have computer models... interesting how one (BAMM model) projects it suddenly changing course. It could happen, but it appears slim. Most computer models are putting it right through New Jersey.

I'm kinda inclined to agree with you beachguy as far as the intensity is concerned. But who knows.

Here in Voorhees, NJ so far it seems like a lot of rain and no real bad winds yet. Still early on in the storm so we'll see.

Still just normal rain over here. Slightly windier than last night, but nothing extreme. No power outages yet.

Massachusetts townships are starting to lose power in the south shore region.

Still very normal Nor easter as far as what I am experiencing. This afternoon will be the telling time for Boston. Do we still have the Jersey and NYC people online?

winds are just starting to pickup now. it was pretty quiet when I woke up at 8 am (couldn't even tell it was raining if it wasn't for the rain drops on puddles).

we're all working from home today in my company... I was just chatting with my boss who's working out of Brooklyn and it's pretty quiet by him still.

Well good luck buddy. I know it's about to get rough, so if you go dark, enjoy your books and candles.

If not, It's great that people that are there are still posting. It means the power grid is holding up well.

Localized outages seem to be occurring. Branches are starting to take out transformers.

The winds here just flipped directions a bit, and are coming strong off the ocean. Looks like it may start to get rough here rather soon.

we good for now. heard that dc and baltimore is getting hit up bad right now. there's more wind gusts out here now. just heard that in the next couple of hours that things are going to get serious. REALLY serious. the power might go out when the storm hits shore.

looks like the storm is going to move a further up over central jersey which means we could be REALLY be fucked.

I'm about a half hour outside of DC and it's still not that bad here. It even stopped raining for now, but the wind is still moderate.

    Be safe. Good luck.

EDIT: Nevermind. It's raining again (off and on).

I live on the east coast of Florida. It didn't hit us, but it did pack a small wallop with the winds. Power went down at my house and my place of employment, on top of numerous palm branches scattered on the road. The wind was intense, but nothing I haven't seen. We were pretty lucky, considering the storms I remember from 2004 that obliterated a lot of this area.

    Be safe up there, everyone!

Just back from the gym; Arlington, VA here. Windy, gusty at times, rainy, blustery, generally yucky. Rain is now pooling in the yard; the ground is so saturated. Winds are picking up and are going to get stronger soon.

So fortunate that we still have power. Hopefully we will do better this time than the July storm when we were out of power for five days.

We had some huge trees removed two weeks ago (psychic?); found out that two were rotten inside and were ready to come done at any time. A neighbor in the next block lost the back of his house in the July storm due to fallen trees, so, hopefully we prevented something similar with the trees' removal.

The Chesapeake Bay bridge was closed at 1pm due to high winds. I'm glad I came back from the eastern shore yesterday morning. Whew! So far it looks like the Rehoboth Beach area is faring better than our friends across the bay in southern Jersey. I just saw the pictures of the flooding in Atlantic City and Ocean City, NJ. So sad...

Hope everyone makes it through this mess alive and well. Take care and be safe all.

    Power just came back on.

This is an unusual storm. It's winds are from a different angle than usual. Driving hard rain and wind, with some sort of flooding coming from the beach. Police have that blocked off completely from what I can see upstairs.

that big band probably caused the short outage. it looks like there are no other bands spinning north. Boston seems to have ducked a major bullet. We are having an extreme wind event, but mostly dry, by hurricane or noreaster standards. We must be on the edge of the event. Delaware is doing enforced evacuation just to the south.

I am DEEPLY concerned for the guys in Jersey and NYC.

the power hasn't gone off yet . the storm is going to make landfall shortly.

they have some drama going on with a crane in manhattan that's about to topple over from the gust winds. sheit is about to get serious over here. the winds are getting stronger. ooh man... getting nervous now. might take this to the basement. feel the wind gusting through my room.

The one positive is the storm is moving at a brisk 27mph WNW... the faster it hits the better... so it can be out of the area as soon as possible.

I still remember when Katrina moved at a fraction of that.

    why? oO

    hunker down:

    2. to settle in at a location for an extended period...
    3. to take shelter, literally or figuratively; to assume a defensive position to resist difficulties.

that lights are starting to flicker inside here. looks like the power might be going out soon. which one is going to fail first? pse&g or american water. good thing i showered just now.

Had to move from my apt by coastal MD and stay with my grandparents in the DC area. Took my last grocery store trip earlier today and there are going to be lots of stupid people getting in car accidents. You can't go 55 when there's a 3-inch layer of water on the roads. *facepalm*
