Re: just venting, airing out, talking shit, personal beefs, problems, anger management, and etc thread

god damn my coworker is an asshole.

we're already super short-staffed today thanks to 1 person being out on vacation and another having a death in the family... so today he decides to not only take a 2 hour lunch (without warning me in advance), but he also leaves an hour early since it's his birthday.

the lunch thing bothers me most of all, tbh... I knew he left at 12:30, so I figured I was fine to leave around 1:15-1:30 and still have time to run out, grab food, eat, and be back before a 3 pm meeting. start getting annoyed at 1:15 when he's not back yet, and when he finally got back at 2:30, I was pretty steamed. because of that, I was totally starving and distracted during me meeting and I didn't actually get to eat lunch until after 4 pm.

had he warned me, I would have taken an early lunch around noon since we can't have everyone out of the office all at once (need at least one member of the team around in case a client calls, and it was just the 2 of us today)

I love Ellen but I have to say this:

    her talkshow is idiot -_-
I lost IQs watching her show, not like it.

Im not saying Ellen is stupid but her FORMAT show is..
I believe she's capable for normal conversation- she's pretty cool actually. But I think her fans- boring housewives and tired factory workers might pushing her (indirectly) to act like their babysitter.
Ellen is no different than a babysitter for adults..."GIMME EXCITEMENT!! GIMME EXCITEMENTS!!" all of them seems to nag her like that "YAY!! FREE STUFF HORRAYYY !"

Finishing a project always leaves me feeling deflated. After 3 days of intensive editing, dialogue editing, action sequences etc, I've finally finished my short film Butterfly and now I'm in equal measures exhausted, elated and terrified that real people will now have to read it to help me create the final draft. Why couldn't I have wanted to be a garbage collector or a hunchback in a church belltower when I was younger..

Idont know what's in Ellen's mind but the reason she might- keep catering to people's excitement is because..her show full of chicks..bawk bawk, full of HOT chicks- she might got flattered , that's why she doesn't mind appear unintelligent or to let her show appear as very intangible/ chaotic.

    Metaphor/Analogy/Allegory:

Imagine a group of military scientists working to control the spread of a virulent toxin, under quarantine. Civilians are allowed to enter the complex where they work, but under VERY strict rules. It's all tightly controlled and administered, and under very close supervision. It's their foremost rule, and of the utmost importance, that ALL toxins are kept secure, and under lock and key. Civilians are under NO circumstances allowed ANYWHERE near the toxin.

The military scientists allow a coughing and spluttering civilian with a broken vial of toxin in his pocket free access to come and go from the complex as much as he pleases.

So I went out to my car to grab something just now and saw that my neighbor's dog shat right behind my car. I grabbed a plastic grocery bag, picked it up and threw it in his mail box.

As a quasi-dog owner, this asshat neighbor is why you get pooper scooper laws and leash laws in towns. At least have your own dog shit on your own property.

Are you SURE that it was your neighbor's dog? If you're in town, it may have been somebody else who was walking their dog. If you're not in town, it may have come from a lost or feral dog...or even from a wild animal. (I was going to say coyote, but I don't think you have those in Boston. Raccoon? They're everywhere.)

Careful there -- you can get socked by the postal service for vandalism of US property for that (whether you had to buy it or they did, all mail boxes in the US are considered property of the post office).

My neighbor is too derpy to do anything about it. He's the one that shoots off fireworks on the 4th which are illegal in MA and burns his brush, particularly pine, in his backyard stinking up the entire neighborhood. Never mind violating leash laws and pooper scooper laws in the town.

Anyway, I had some friends over for kicks and I put a bottle of fernet on the coffee table after dinner and only one puke victim. So disappointed.

I had a neighbor who did that and just cursed me for suggesting she follow the law, when I commented on the fact that the fumes from the trash she threw in were dangerous to my lungs. I mentioned it to a fireman, who mentioned it to the chief, who sent a message back saying next time she did it call.

I called. They showed up with a truck and crew, and hosed down not just the fire barrel but the entire back yard. Then they charged her $2000 or so for the house call because it was a violation. When they found plastic and PT lumber in the remains, they slammed her with another fine, for unlawful toxic emissions.

The judge reduced the fines, but since the chief had reported that she was burning trash when someone she knew had health problems lived next door ordered her to take a class at the community college, one that dealt with smoke and toxicity (in the firefighter certification program), at her own expense.

fuuck. totally forgot that my boyfriend owes me $700.

3 months later, I almost feel weird even bringing it up. (when we took vacation back in the fall, I put the whole thing on my credit card and he was going to write me a check to cover his half the following week after he got paid)

Yep. That is only for destruction of mail and NOT the mailbox. HUGE difference there.

Any who, I just got an extremely awkward text from my "not single" guy in Chicago saying he can't wait to meet up with me when he gets back home next week. Almost feel bad for his BF but it's his problem, not mine.

If it's used for US mail, then it's theirs. You can't allow anyone else to put anything in it -- I know it seems silly but courts keep upholding that -- and you can't do anything to harm either yours or anyone else's... they'll get you for vandalism, or if you mess it up bad enough, for interfering with the delivery of the mail.

My dad had a tenant who had to go to court over it for filling someone's mailbox with expanding insulation foam -- the gal got a hefty fine and had to pay to replace the mailbox.

A clear statement from an interesting source:

A U.S. Postal Service press release dated September 9, 2010 says, “The U.S. Postal Service would like to warn people that only authorized U.S. Postal Service delivery personnel are allowed to place items in a mailbox. By law, a mailbox is intended only for receipt of postage-paid U.S. Mail….. the Postal Service has received complaints of flyers without paid postage being placed in mailboxes. … this type of activity is illegal by federal law.”

The Postal Service's Domestic Mail Manual states, “No part of a mail receptacle may be used to deliver any matter not bearing postage, including items of matter placed upon, supported by, attached to, hung from, or inserted into a mail receptacle….” Even though homeowners purchase and maintain the residential mailboxes, the mailboxes belong to and are controlled by the U.S. Postal Service. That means that any tampering or misuse of the mailbox is a federal offense that comes with substantial penalties.

Here's an example that IIRC was discussed briefly on JUB:

    http://articles.latimes.com/2002/jan/03/local/me-19918

You can look in the manual yourself: http://pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/dmm300_landing.htm

I find this law that applies -- there may also be more:

So the moment you have a box that says it's for US mail, nothing else can be delivered there (though, interestingly, they don't care if you actually put it there yourself so long as it has postage!).

A friend of mine recently left his wife and kids, jumped on the gay bus, and got a boyfriend two months ago. Almost from the get go he's been drunk with this guy daily. Should I be concerned or just let him be?

    Yes, and yes.

"Thirty-one* states allow all qualified citizens to carry concealed weapons. In those states, homosexuals should embark on organized efforts to become comfortable with guns, learn to use them safely and carry them. They should set up Pink Pistols task forces, sponsor shooting courses and help homosexuals get licensed to carry. And they should do it in a way that gets as much publicity as possible. "

My entire week has just been a series of unrelated awkward moments.

My ex's roommate texted me at 2am [probably drunk] asking if I could call him. I obviously didn't but still fucked up.

    LOL

Be concerned, but don't butt in. Be ready to listen a lot and well if he comes to you -- or if she does, for that matter. Offer no advice, but point out possibilities (including the ridiculous and hilarious; they can help a person step back from something to think more clearly about it).

no, I just need to remind him.

he offered to pay me straight away, but there was something I can't remember going on and I told him to wait (I think we were running errands and he said he'd go to the bank to takeout cash, but then I was like "no, just write me a check when we get back" and then I think it just slipped from both of our minds).

completely forgot about it until I was looking at my bank statement the other day.

Yeah but mine here doesn't. It's owned by me and I bought it in Lethbridge AB. I own it and when I move again it goes with me. Looking around this neighborhood many have wooden boxes. Some quite creative. And yeah they own them.

I've been having some fucked up problems with my LTR ex recently.

My LTR ex and me broke up the first time to this song...

Then very recently, perhaps by serendipity, I discovered this song by the same artist with an 'extremely similar' rhythm and melody to the former...

At the same time, I came into contact with said ex after 18 months very recently.

I got a prescription from him last month, but when I researched the stuff it turned out to be a tweak on Alleve that makes each pill 2.5 times as powerful -- so really I could just get the same effect by taking two and a half Alleve instead of one of those, and it would be cheaper (even with my prescription plan!).

So I'm going to try the "M-card".

I sometimes feel like kicking him hard about a dozen times in one hip, and telling him, "That's what I feel like on a good day -- now can we talk a real pain killer?"

Yeah I was flat out told by a doctor that the difficulty of actually nailing down muscular pain and "proving it's really there" is why they're very hesitant to do more than tell you to take naproxen. I understand people can just make up pain to try to get prescription painkillers but geez, what if you really do need them?

I told him I've been kicked by a horse and by a cow, and I'd rather just get kicked again most mornings than deal with this pain. And he knows I broke a leg bone from running on it, and finished a race with it broken all the way through, and sometimes this pain is worse.

He's not going to be happy I'm getting the M-card, but that's his problem.

Meanwhile, a physical therapist I know is whipping up a natural concoction meant to balance the immune system and alleviate arthritis and other joint pain -- I have fair hopes from it.

nostalgia is one hell of a feeling.

I was sitting here reading an article, when i crossed something that made me think of a show I used to watch when I was a little boy. I bolted over to youtube and watched the opening credits of said show...it was as if I was ten years old all over again. Sitting there humming along to the theme song and almost transported back in time. The feeling is just so strong...and when I realize that what i was 'experiencing' took place eighteen years ago...it broke my heart. I'm no longer that innocent kid anymore that viewed the world the way I did at that time. It's just surreal at how much time has passed, and how different I am now. bittersweet

We should appreciate every moment of our lives, because once a moment is gone...it's gone. Time waits for no one. And the older I get...the faster it seems to move.

A deep insight. Many know it with their brains, not so many with their hearts.

When you first realize you have a headache...

I want to do a lot of stuff around my apartment, including cook dinner. Can't do shit, right now. Off for two painkiller pills and a nap.
