first gay club experience
..Was just ok. 12am: There were tons of people there, but there was only one guy that basically fit every single criteria of what I find attractive. Finally worked up the courage to introduce myself and he introduces me to his boyfriend
Strike one
12:30 - 1:30am: Drunk much older man follows me around the rest of the night and proposes to me, 15 or 20 times. He was dead serious too. I was polite and said no thanks...felt like everyone was watching and really embarrassed me
2am: Time to leave...

You should have followed Beyonce's advice and said to him:
"Cuz if you liked it then you should have put a ring on it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
Don’t be mad once you see that he want it
If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it
wo oh ooh oh oh ooh oh oh ooh oh oh oh"

It only works if you swing your hip like her as you're saying it.

Re: first gay club experience
The thing I've found with going out is to just keep doing it. Over and over and over. You'll get familiar with your places of choice. The regulars and the bartenders will get to know you. You'll make friends and become more at-ease in the place. Talk, mingle, etc. with a wide variety of people, not always just your 'target' type. Same social rules apply at a club as anywhere else... just with the potentiality of hot sex happening.
You don't have to drink or get drunk all the time. (Would that I have taken my own advice last night!
) Sodas and juice are good. Just tip your bartender as you would for an alcoholic drink.
Once you've been a few times like that, you'll have people who know you around so avoiding things like the 12:30-1:30 problem will be easier. The other thing you can do is go with friends, but if you do that, don't stick together all the time in a clump or you'll never meet anyone but the guys you came with.
The other thing... "...fit every single criteria..."? Maybe that should loosen up a bit? Not everyone has to be a perfect 10 to be a potential hook-up or whatever. If you broaden your criteria, you'll find more guys. Not saying you have to pick up trolls, but you know...
So my secrets to clubbing are 'wash rinse repeat', have fun, be confident but not arrogant, and make friends. Love or lust opportunities will happen more often that way, and at least you'll have more fun on the nights they don't.

My clubbing days began and ended when I was 21. Just not my scene at all.

That's too bad it didn't work out for you.
I love clubs. I always have since I was 19. And I think it'll never end. I go every time and love dancing. I go to Latin gay clubs mostly... so much fun and love the variety of music. Pop, Latin pop, reggaeton, bachata... bit of everything... I don't like the drama that sometimes happens and believe me I've seen it. Guys throwing hissy fits over stupid things. Still, I like to dance and I love seeing music videos that often get shown at clubs I go to.
