ever seen a guy that looked TOO cute to the point where it became a turn off?

you know, they're very attractive to the point where there's something off that keeps them from being hot. they're just too pretty where they seem unmanly. like they could be in a ban deodorant commercial or one of those vagasil commercials instead of the old school bod commercials where the guys are all sweaty, getting dirty, and busy. some guys kind of seem a bit high maintanence with it like they're scared to get themselves dirty or are always busy trying to look photogenic and shit. it's like just let yourself show in a natural setting without you trying to force it.

like this pic. this guy seems a bit overmanicured.

yeah, the male model that won the price of right and tyler oakley come to mind. they're cute in photos but when you see them talking and moving around, it's like they're being a bit too conscious where they literally are trying to keep themselves a certain way in order to maintain that attractive look to them. it seems a bit superficial and fake. you don't have to keep the same facial expression or move around in a way where you're scared that you might break out into a sweat.

whenever i saw those price is right auditions, i was looking at the winner (rob) and some of the models with the way they moved around. it was like you're hot and all BUT you know but you seem a bit unnatural. then when i heard rob talk, it was like "come on, dude". i'd rather see this guy during his day off than him busy faking for the cameras.

I don't think it's a matter of being "too cute to be attractive". It's just a matter of "not really the type of guy I normally go for". I don't think I would pick that guy out of a crowded room. But if he came over and talked to me, I'd probably be interested in what he had to offer.

He's handsome but he looks like if you put your feet up on his coffee table he would run and get a doily to put under them so as not to scratch it.

I love the puppy though! I want a Siberian Husky.

as you said in your opening post. too pretty soon seems "unmanly". I know it is a silly concept, but a man for me needs a certain level of roughness and edges

is that a siberian husky though? it looks like one but not sure.

exactly, dude looks like he's scared of a little dirt or growing facial hair. reminds me of that abercombie and fitch "call me maybe" parody. all these guys dancing around looking like they're scared to get dirty or to let the man out of them.

it may sound silly but it's true. the idea that a guy would be so self conscious to the point where he's scared to move around and get dirty because he'll lose his cuteness is scary. for some reason, i think that the forced smile the guy has on his face isn't able to mask the discomfort he has holding the dog, maybe he's scared the dog might break his nails or something. i dunno.

i most definitely agree with that. they lose their attractiveness because it becomes a self consciousness thing where they're literally synchorizing every movement they make like a robot or something. it seems fake and forced where you can see the insecurity on them.

The only thing that might bother me about those who groom excessively is the amount of time they fritter away doing so, and the notion that they probably would pitch a fit if they had to go out of doors on a windy day.

I don’t much mind what people wear, or how they like to ‘look’, so long as what they have on doesn’t keep them from functioning normally, or make them unsafe – like saggy ass pants that have to be pulled up before they can get out from in front of an oncoming bus.

What does creep me out, is a man over 20 sporting a little boy’s haircut – a forty something still sporting the same hairstyle he had when he was 5.

And teachers who try to dress and groom like their students - that’s creepy.

Before opening thread I thought you were talking about someone we would find too handsome/perfect in a outofmyleague sorta way... but you're talking about too pretty/plastic/artificial right? Like most of the gay porn stars from the "mainstream" studios... yeah definitely unppealing

Or Tom Daley. By all accounts he's a genuinely nice guy, treats his fans well, etc. He is however a victim of his own looks. He's so pretty that I can't see him as a person just an object.

Yes, some guys that look extremely flawless do become a "turn off" but not because of any perception of "un-manliness." Too me they look mannequin like and bring out my own insecurities of looking like average Joe. I would be freaking out to make out with one that doesn't appear to have a single pore on his face.

Or are we talking about his facial features? Yeah he looks boyish and quite pretty. To me, that's attractive. Although I prefer these traits more on scruffy guys, I am just a fan of the pretty look in general. Besides, imo, manly and pretty are not mutually exclusive. Hooray for pretty, rugged men. Best of both worlds.
There is a grain of truth to that. Years ago Brad Pitt was very talented at pulling off rugged and pretty at the same time. Legends of the fall for example? The same argument can be made for Beckham and Channing Tatum.

you know something. i think women would find him more attractive than guys do. i read awhile back about how women usually prefer guys with feminine facial features especially with the eyes. his eyes are pretty girly.

he's cute BUT there's something about him that just seems fake.

It only becomes a turn-off if an ego comes with it. If the cuteness comes with modesty, then I have no problem with it.

interesting concept. that makes sense after watching those price is right webisodes and that abercombie and fitch "call me maybe" ad where the guys are acting like robots almost. their smiles are obviously forced as well as their movements are choregraphed to the point where they don't even look right.

i feel you on that. in my case however, i'm turned off at the idea that of a guy is relying too much of his outer appearance where he can't just let himself go and be himself. there's nothing wrong with being self conscious as long as you don't over do it. it would be incredibly annoying to have to be around a hot guy that is high maintenance about his appearance all the time where he's scared of doing something, getting his hands dirty, having to look 100 percent perfect all the time and etc. you have the looks already, the fuck are you worrying about? there's nothing wrong with dressing nice, looking clean and etc in public but if we're at home, in bed, simply going to the beach and etc, he shouldn't have to worry about that shit because he knows that i like him for who he is and not for his face or his body.

like i worry as much as it is. i don't want to be around a guy that worries about simply shit like staying pretty all day. it's not going to last forever. there's so much better things to do with your time.

indeed. never understood why someone would basically think that because they look attractive that makes them better than everybody else. it seems like some people really don't have shit going for them where they have to stoop that low.

For me cute is always atractive. I don't think a guy need a lot off care to be handsome.

High maintanence is a turn off, I agree.

Flawlessness in either looks or personality is a turnoff for me. People can look at the Zac Efrons and swoon and I'll just roll my eyes. I have encountered both but not together and I was equally repulsed by it.

Yes - get those thoughts when looking in the mirror every morning. Helps me to decide to shave or not.

I think a lot of people consider attractive people as a personal affront. They quickly assume the guy must be an unapproachable prick...and thus won't approach him...which makes THEM the unapproachable prick. And then they can feel superior to the hottie, and apparently protect their ego some.

I can't say as I've noticed more attitude from hot guys than from not-hot guys. Yeah, I've met a couple that clearly didn't want anything to do with me. (I joked about one of them, "I assumed that he wouldn't ever want anything to do with ugly clothes, but I guess that applies to him even when it's somebody else wearing them.") But I've met plenty of not-hot guys who didn't want to talk to me, either. The not-hot guys apparently get to carry the proud "Aspie" or "artistically anti-social" tag, and only the hot guys get the "huge ego" one.

Yeah, I agree. People who "man-scape" too much and put a lot of effort into their looks don't catch my eye. I understand shaving, putting lotion on ashy knees, etc (the essentials), but sometimes people can go overboard. This includes physical fitness. I think fit bodies can be great, but it can turn into a turn-off. This isn't due to insecurity, I just have weird tastes I guess haha.
Genetically speaking, people who look too perfect (by societal standards) don't catch my eye either. I love irregularities in people. That's why my only Hollywood crush is Adrian Brody with his huge twisted nose! Heterochromia (different colored eyes) is the best!

No such thing as too cute. That said, I don't even approach extremely attractive people. No use wasting my time, and embarrassing myself.

I think the dude in the OP is cute as hell.........how cute he REALLY is depends on how cute HE might think he is.
The hottest of the hot are the ones who "just don't get it" when it comes to their own looks.

People have said positive things about me, although my looks is almost never one of them. But they've told me (for instance) that I'm a good writer, or that I'm good at giving advice. Now, of course, some people think I'm a piss-poor writer, and there are some who think my advice is terrible. But it seems the majority of opinions fall on the positive side. And in general, these opinions please me, and make me feel good. And why shoudn't they? And no, that doesn't mean that people who aren't good writers or good advice-givers should feel terrible about the fact. It just means they shine elsewhere. Just as I don't feel bad about not being attractive. Yeah, I sometimes wish I were, just as I'm sure some atttractive guys sometimes wish they could write better.

One of the members of Big Time Rush James Maslow actually came to my mind when I read the title. I think he's pretty good looking but not to my liking.

This. And the guy in the original picture doesn't appear to have an ego. If he did, he wouldn't be holding that puppy which distracts people's attention away from him.

like this pic. this guy seems a bit overmanicured.
I like a man with a bit of roughness, a bit of imperfection, that makes him more manly.

When a gut is as prety and cute and overly take care of every detail like this one seems, well he can turn me on if he accepts to be my bitch or something like that.

Wow.... NOT cute at ALL! He's really screwing up his face. I like slender guys like him, but that just looks odd.

I know what you mean. There's a flamboyant gay guy who wears GQ-esque clothing and spends about 10 minutes in front of the treadmills looking at his reflection. While, a cute straight guy I know, puts on jeans and a white t-shirt and leaves looking 10 times better, without all the primping LOL.

Not cute, at all, imo. But totally extra and high maintenance like you describe.

He wants to be seen as The Human Ken Doll. He's had 90+ cosmetic surgical procedures done.
