Okay, so when I was 18 I got my first job as a waiter at this restaurant/hotel. My town has a lot of history, civil war stuff happened there, the underground railroad runs underneath the hotel, and the building itself is over 100 years old. Anyway, my first night they asked me to go down to the freezer for some lettuce. They said it was one floor down, so I went, and of course I managed to get lost on a flight of stairs

and I wound up in the boiler room. First of all, the boiler room alone was like something out of a Freddy Krueger movie. Before I even too much got a good look at it, I had this feeling like I wasn't supposed to be there. I just didn't want to fuck with any of the energy that place was giving me, so I booked it. A few months later we had this convention of psychics who rented rooms in the hotel because they were doing various investigations throughout town due to it's history. I came into work the first night they were there, and my best friend had talked to the main psychic lady and was in shock because she had told her all of these things about her uncle and dad who passed away that were all true. At the time I really wasn't trying to buy it. I thought our boss had just gave the psychic some information to tell her to make her feel better, so I wasn't that into what they had to say. The next day they actually did their investigation of the building and printed out their report and made copies for all of us. I was bored so I sat down and read it. There were a lot of different reports about spirits in the parlor room, and various hotel rooms, but when I got to their review of the boiler room it said that there was a very dark and upsetting energy down there. That peaked my interest because I hadn't really talked about my experience so it was interesting that someone else felt the same thing. Two days later, it was the last day they were staying with us, and I had to serve them breakfast. When I gave the H.B.I.C. psychic her tea, she grabbed my arm and asked if she could talk to me later. I was a little taken aback, but I said sure. I was curious to hear what she had to say. After they finished eating she met me in the lobby and we went into the office to talk. At first she started talking about a lot of private family matters I was going through at the time, that I hadn't talked to anyone about, not even my very best friend who worked there. Then she told me that I had an energy that spirits were attracted to

, and that there was an old lady who followed me around and looked after me. She went on to describe the lady, and what she said sounded identical to this one picture of my granny holding me as a toddler. My granny died when I was two. Then she gave me a name, and it was similar to my granny's, but it wasn't her name. That really weirded me out, and when I went home that afternoon I told my mom about it. My mom does not believe in that kind of stuff at all, and even when I told her how the description of the lady was just like the picture, she admitted that it was weird, but she wasn't buying it. So I went to head to my room, but just before I forgot, I told her about the name that she had given me. My mom froze, and then told me that was her nickname for her mom. For me, there's just no coincidence big enough for that. Ever since that day, I've believed everything that psychic had to say regarding that entire weekend.
Another night there I was working with this girl and we were getting ready to go home and were putting away cups in the wait station. There are two of those flip doors back there that lead to the kitchen, an in one and an out one. While she had her back to me putting up cups I slipped into the in one to wipe up the counters in the kitchen. I heard her talking and I thought it was funny that she hadn't realized I left and was talking to herself, so I poked my head out of the out door and asked "Who are you talking to?" but she gasped and looked to the other corner of the wait station where I had been standing earlier and then back at me, like she had just seen a ghost. She swore that she turned around and saw me standing there until I stuck my head out of the kitchen door.
Another night I was working all by myself and there was this old Amish man staying there. I was waiting in the lobby by my little podium, and I saw him come to the balcony upstairs. I looked up at him and smiled, but he just stared at me. Then he started walking down the stairs, slow as Christmas. I asked him if he was coming down to eat, and he didn't say anything, he just kept staring at me as he walked down the stairs. It gave me the creeps, so I went into the kitchen to talk to the chef and we were just saying how creepy the man was. After a few minutes, I figured he must have gotten to wherever he was going by that time, so I went to the door that leads out to the wait station, and y'all . . . as soon I opened the door, the man was RIGHT there! I bumped into him! I . . . almost dropped dead right then and there. Turns out he only wanted a cup of coffee and was really sweet. He left me a $5 tip.
