I watched that vid over in CE&P, was more interested in seeing the similarities between the Australian chamber and the House of Commons in its appearance and procedures and layout and method of speech, etc.

Haven't a clue what the background to the story is, or who this 'Slipper' person is.

Peter Slipper (married) used to be a liberal senator, then promoted as a house speaker under Labor,
then he text messages to a gay assistant about adult sex gay sex ... etc, they might have gay sex together, then two of them falling out,
the gay accusing him of sexual harassment, now they both in court and the issue is on going.

I pay my taxes to that woman and I have to tell you she is as slimy as a dirty dog.

She refuses to allow the 'gay marriage' laws.

The 'Slipper' person is a slimy politician called Peter Slipper who got caught when his smutty, misogynist email texts were outed by his (gay) assistant. So the slimy Gillard woman had to speak in parliament praising the slimy misogynist Slipper whilst heaping old-style thuggish scorn on her supposedly-misogynist political opponent.

Re: Your thoughts on this girl power speech? :)

Firstly I think dismissing it as girl power is patronising Telly. What Gillard did was throw Abbott's own hypocrisy back in his face. The man is a toad. She's not much better quite frankly, but Abbott has needed a good serve for years. He's done absolutely nothing to improve the country while he's been opposition leader. All he has said is No and block any and all attempts to make lasting change. The fact the Gillard Government has managed to pass all the legislation they have tabled is more to do with the independents refusing to bow to Abbot.

I think the main stream media coverage calling her a disgrace is bullshit. Social media and the response by non-mainstream, not to mention the international press have been all over this as a defining moment. Mainstream Australia media has been jumping up and down saying she supported Slipper. She never said she agreed with Slipper. She outright said his text messages were offensive to just about every breathing person, but she also refused to do the courts job for them. She was a lawyer. Of course she's going to support due process and give him his day in court.

The fact the independents had told Slipper his had to resign is proof that regardless of what's going on they are not going to vote with Abbott. For Abbott to call anyone on being a sexiest is hypocrisy. While I'm no fan of Gillard, the thought of Abbott leading this country makes me want to move to North Korea. At least there you know the despot in charge thinks he's God. Abbott is a nightmare.

He's on public record as saying he believes in Don't Ask Don't Tell and it shouldn't have been repealed. He's on record as saying Gay people in Australia should adopt the same motto if they want to be accepted by mainstream Australia. He's on record as saying homosexuality makes him uncomfortable - despite having an openly lesbian sister. He's on record as saying same sex equality is not needed. He purposely went against the LNP tradition of a conscious vote against same sex marriage because he's spent the better part of the last 2 or so years saying he will never change his mind on an election promise.

He is on public record as saying that women should be at home, because men are physiologically more suitable to being in positions of power and he's on public record as saying that abortion is used as an easy way out.

Out of the two of them Gillard is by far the superior intellect. Abbott can't even read an electricity statement correctly as shown in Parliament last week. Economists the world over are hailing the Australian economy as one of the strongest in the world at the moment yet Abbott is doing everything he can to talk us into a recession with his doom and gloom nonsense.
